Knauf, being a world-class manufacturer of high-quality materials, offers a professional and high-quality solution to the issue of creating an optimal acoustic climate for premises. Such a solution is the line of sound-absorbing perforated gypsum boards KNAUF-Acoustics. This line includes two groups of materials: domestic Knauf-Acoustics full-format, known as PPGZ, and imported Knauf-Acoustics raster, produced in Denmark and appeared on the Russian market in 2014.
Variety of designs
Choosing KNAUF products, architects receive a flexible tool for creating expressive architectural forms of walls and ceilings, which does not limit the imagination of the authors of the projects. Sheet material Knauf-Acoustics full-format is presented in various types of perforation - round, square and diffuse, with different types of edges - straight, combined and folded. The size of the KNAUF-Acoustics full-format slabs depends on the type and pattern of perforation and is approximately 1200x2000 mm with a thickness of 12.5 mm. Depending on the perforation pattern, the slabs can have a continuous perforation pattern made evenly over the entire plane of the slab, and a block perforation pattern made in grouped blocks. Full-format straight edged boards can be dry or wet bent, painted in any color, and mounted on both walls and ceilings.
The range of products Knauf-Acoustics raster is represented by a series of perforated gypsum boards for walls and for suspended ceilings. The thickness of the slabs is 9.5 mm and 12.5 mm, the size in the standard version is 600x600mm and 600x1200mm, but slabs can be produced in the size range from 300mm to 2400mm. Gypsum sheet materials of all requested sizes are pre-tested by the manufacturer for deflection in order to exclude the possibility of slabs sagging during operation. In the standard version, Knauf-Acoustics raster is painted in the factory in matt white RAL 9003, but when ordering from 2000 square meters, the boards can be painted in any RAL and NCS color and choose a different type of surface - matt, glossy, or finished with high-strength foil. Moreover, you can apply any print to the surface of the slabs, creating a unique pattern and design of ceilings and walls. The perforation type is presented in six options: Globe, Quadril, Micro, Tangent, Unity 3, Unity 8/15/20:
Acoustic properties
Knauf-Acoustics full-format and raster materials are created to form a comfortable acoustic environment. The direct acoustic comfort of a room in the presence of high-quality sound insulation is determined by the degree of sound absorption by surfaces, reverberation (a gradual decrease in sound intensity during its multiple reflections), uniformity of sound distribution and speech intelligibility. Thanks to the through holes and the sound-absorbing layer of non-woven fabric glued to the back of the sheets, the sound wave is reflected less intensely, so there is no "echo" effect in the room, the boominess is reduced and speech perception is improved. Modern Knauf-Acoustics slabs provide a high sound absorption coefficient. The material is successfully used in the decoration of recording studios and cinemas, language laboratories and classrooms, hospitals and hotels, airports and train stations, office rooms and meeting rooms: in a word, wherever increased sound absorption is required. The school in Slavyanka and the renovated hall of the former cinema "Balkans" were among the first projects implemented in St. Petersburg, where the new material was used. Now, in three schools of St. Petersburg, built according to new projects, structures with a cladding made of sound-absorbing boards KNAUF-Akustika have been used.
Fire safety
Knauf-Akustika slabs have high fire safety indicators, which is an important factor in the conditions of modern construction requirements. Fire safety class of the material Knauf-Acoustics raster - KM1. Unpainted plates Knauf-Acoustics full-format have a fire safety class KM2, but when applying the fire retardant Senezh-Ognebio - KM1. All given data are confirmed by fire safety certificates.
Installation technology
As a material for "dry construction", KNAUF-Acoustics boards have all the advantages of this finishing method, which ensures fast and efficient installation without laborious "wet" processes.
Knauf-Acoustics raster and full-format are mounted in different ways, depending on the type of edges that form the joints. When installing sheets Knauf-Acoustics full-format with a straight edge 4PK and a combined edge 2FK / 2PK, the seams between the sheets are putty with a mixture of Knauf-Uniflot. Knauf-Acoustics full-format with 4FK edge is used to form a tight joint, which does not require subsequent puttying. Full-size sheets of Knauf-Acoustics are mounted with self-tapping screws on U-shaped metal profiles. Raster ceilings Knauf-Acoustics can be easily and quickly mounted on a suspension system made of a galvanized metal T-profile.
Environmental friendliness
Knauf-Akustika sheet products are made of natural gypsum material, which is an environmentally friendly tool for creating a comfortable environment. Gypsum does not contain toxic components, and its high-tech production does not have a harmful effect on the environment. A distinctive feature of Knauf Acoustic raster plates is the Cleaneo technology used in the production of plates. This technology is based on the addition of a Zeoflair component to gypsum, which is similar to natural zeolite, which has the ability to absorb harmful chemical compounds in the air, such as formaldehyde, benzene, ammonia. The air passing through the perforation of the slabs is cleaned thanks to Cleaneo technology, thereby increasing the environmental friendliness of the premises. The effectiveness of the technology and the fact of reducing the level of harmful compounds in the air are confirmed by independent tests carried out in the laboratory of the Institute of Building Physics in Germany.
The practice of using high-tech materials from Knauf demonstrates that Knauf-Acoustics opens up new horizons for creativity, makes it possible to create expressive and functional surfaces, including curved ones, experiment with the shape of the ceiling and walls, invent unique interior solutions, and, of course, achieve a clean sounding interior …
