Architects LYCS (Hong Kong - Hangzhou) are concerned that in modern China schools are being built as if for adults, although sometimes they are designed for very young students. As a result, it is all the more difficult to cope with ever-increasing social and educational demands in this unfriendly environment. Therefore, in its project for an elementary school with a kindergarten Haishu in the "City of the Future of Science and Technology" in Hangzhou, the LYCS bureau proposed to build a whole town with its own "society" instead of a couple of large buildings.
The resulting 15 "houses" are equipped with gable roofs, which are sheltered from the sun and rain, half-open spaces for games, studies, theatrical performances and so on. All buildings differ in the size of the windows, the interpretation of the façade, and the color - although dark red still sets the rhythm. They are interconnected by overhead passages and corridors. Courtyards - green areas, sports and playgrounds - have been created between them.

The buildings are interlocked: a kindergarten received one "quarter" (12 classes), a school (27 classes) - two, divided by age of students. Buildings vary in size depending on how old their occupants are.
