St. Petersburg, June 6-7, 2019. On the site of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, a business meeting of the President of the ROCKWOOL Group of Companies Jens Birgersson with the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov took place. There were also meetings with the Governor of the Leningrad Region Alexander Drozdenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Moscow Region Vadim Khromov and the head of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Chelyabinsk Region Sergey Smolnikov. As part of the SPIEF, Jens Birgersson also participates in a meeting between President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and representatives of foreign business.
As part of a business meeting at SPIEF 2019, President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov noted the merits of ROCKWOOL to the region and solemnly presented Jens Birgersson with a Letter of Appreciation from the President of the Republic of Tatarstan for fruitful cooperation and great contribution to the implementation of joint projects. At the meeting, the parties discussed the activities of the Danish brand enterprise on the territory of the SEZ "Alabuga", focusing on the first Grodan production that opened in Russia last year, and also identified plans for the further development of the company in the region. The ROCKWOOL plant in the SEZ "Alabuga" is one of the most powerful in the production of stone wool in the world, a natural material with great potential for a positive impact on the environment. In 2018, the most modern line for the production of high-tech stone wool substrates for plant growing Grodan was launched on the territory of the plant. Grodan technologies increase yields and provide the population with fresh vegetables and flowers all year round.
The participation of the President of the ROCKWOOL Group of Companies in SPIEF 2019 continued with a working meeting with the Governor of the Leningrad Region Alexander Drozdenko. During the conversation, the parties discussed issues of current and future activities of the ROCKWOOL company in Vyborg. Jens Birgersson noted that the ROCKWOOL plant has been successfully operating in the Leningrad Region for 10 years and is one of the largest taxpayers in the region and an active participant in social projects and improvement programs. Taking into account the key topic of the forum this year - "Forming the agenda for sustainable development" - Alexander Drozdenko stressed that the government of the Leningrad region highly appreciates the activities of a major investor and manufacturer of environmentally friendly and safe building materials from natural stone wool, which are especially in demand within the framework of the current topic of energy efficiency.
Within the framework of the SPIEF, Deputy Chairman of the Moscow Region Government Vadim Khromov, ROCKWOOL President Jens Birgersson and ROCKWOOL Russia CEO Marina Potoker discussed the development of an enterprise in the Moscow Region, further implementation of joint projects in the field of sustainable development using Rockwool expertise in the field of environmentally friendly production.
Also at the forum, Jens Birgersson and the head of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Chelyabinsk Region, Sergey Smolnikov, signed a memorandum of cooperation on the development and modernization of the production of non-combustible thermal insulation from natural stone in the region.
As part of the SPIEF, the President of ROCKWOOL also participates in the meeting of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin with representatives of foreign business. The discussion program includes the work of entrepreneurs in Russia, issues of attracting and activating foreign investments, as well as issues of creating and developing high-tech industries in Russia.
