The cable car, which is called the world's first international one, should shorten the journey between the two countries, as well as Blagoveshchensk and Heikhe, to seven and a half minutes (net travel time will be three and a half minutes). Plans for the construction of this transport facility appeared long ago, but work began only at the end of last year, and they were officially launched on July 18. The road will have two lines and four gondolas, each for 60 passengers and with space for luggage.

The operator of the closed competition for the terminal project was KB Strelka, which also developed an economic and functional model for the future construction. 12 architectural workshops were invited to participate, and only UNStudio and Coop Himmelb (l) au were offered to present the concept. The winning Dutch bureau has been working on cable car projects in recent years in

Amsterdam and Gothenburg.

The appearance of the terminal in Blagoveshchensk is inspired by the ice on the Amur: according to the architects, the river, freezing, turns from a barrier into a connective tissue between the two countries, helping cultural and economic exchange - and the role of the cable car will be the same.

The building will be adjacent to

the ensemble "Golden Mile", which will appear on the new, reclaimed bank of the river, connecting it and the squares and squares located further from the water, as well as the Social and Cultural Center (which was opened in 2007 as a late Soviet long-term construction, originally conceived as a drama theater designed by Vladimir Somov).

Components of the UNStudio project include intuitive routes for arriving and departing passengers through commercial and cultural spaces, as well as a landscaped roof terrace that - like the interiors - offers views of the river and Heihe.
