An increasing number of architects and projects apply for the prize of the World Festival of Architecture every year. This year, the organizers received 924 applications, of which less than half were shortlisted - 434. The leader in the number of finalist projects, as in previous years, is Great Britain, the homeland of the forum organizers, EMAP. The USA, Australia and Turkey are just a little behind.
The nominees will be evaluated in 32 categories in four sections: completed projects, "future projects", small projects and landscape. A special prize will also be awarded for the best use of color. All finalists will make presentations of their projects during the festival, which will be held in Berlin from November 15-17 this year, and the winners will be announced at the same time.
Last year, Russia was represented in the final by 12 projects. This time there are a third less of them, and most of them are in the "future projects" section.
Two projects by Nikita Yavein's studio "Studio 44" were nominated in the categories "Education" and "Master Plan". This is a project of a sports and recreation complex of a judo school in St. Petersburg and a concept for the development of a residential area in Pushkin.
Blank Architects entered the final with three projects at once. Two of them were designed for
the recently concluded competition for the design of three new Moscow metro stations. These are the projects of Rzhevskaya and Sheremetyevskaya. And the third was created to participate in the Genoa Blueprint competition - for the reconstruction of the exhibition complex in Genoa.
Three Russian workshops claim to win with already completed projects. SPEECH - with the installation “City DNA”, created in Milan by order of INTERNI as part of the Design Week and Furniture Salon, “City-Arch” - with the Nuvi At eco-center in the city of Beloyarsky (KhMAO), TOTEMENT / PAPER - with a museum-storage brandy factory "Alliance 1892".
