The construction will appear by December 2011 on the northern bank of the Hey Bay River, in the actively developing Overhaul area. It will be located right next to the water: the architects compare the light streamlined volume of the building to a seashell.
According to the city authorities, the new building will not only constitute an important cultural component of the area and become its visual dominant, but will also give a truly international status to the Museum of Cinema. It has a collection of 37,000 films, 60,000 posters, 500,000 photographs, and a large number of other film exhibits; also in his collection is the largest thematic library in Europe. Now his "residence" will correspond to his cultural significance.
The building will have 4 cinema halls, exhibition halls with a total area of 1200 m2, 1800 m2 of administrative premises and storage rooms, a restaurant and a "VIP-zone" for receptions. Open terraces "sinks" will become a recreational area; there is also an opportunity for open-air film screenings.
