One of the most famous contemporary designers designed the interior of the Laufen Bathrooms showroom in Madrid. The peculiarity of the new salon in the very center of the Spanish capital is that it is intended not only to demonstrate new products in the equipment and decoration of bathrooms from the famous Swiss brand, but also for the professional interaction of technologists, designers and architects, for their joint work. This is a kind of research laboratory for the creation of interior projects, where a lively creative atmosphere is created and all the necessary functionality is provided. That is why, in addition to the inspiring spaces where the Laufen collections are presented, the two-storey historic building from the beginning of the 20th century on an area of 200 m2, there is also a design room, two conference rooms and an extensive library of materials with detailed technical specifications.
Refined shades, flowing lines, restraint and elegance distinguish the interiors of showrooms and workspaces. Laconic modern sanitary ware organically exists next to elegant classic panels, cornices and columns, surrounded by marble, onyx, glass and oak.
Patricia Urquiola, who combines the emotionality of the Spaniards and the solid character of the Basques and has received education and experience from the luminaries of Italian design Achille Castiglioni and Vico Magistretti, defines her attitude to work on such projects: “It seems to me that the interior should resemble a landscape: beautiful, light and harmonious. The designer must do everything to make it comfortable and not want to get up from an armchair or sofa. But if you got up and walked away, then there should be not just an empty place for the body, but something very self-sufficient, like a landscape."
