Central square in Plovdiv - international competition
Illustration: plovdivsquare.com The central square of the city of Plovdiv is a rather complicated place from an architectural and urban planning point of view. The fact is that several historical, cultural and architectural layers are superimposed here: on the square you can see the excavations of the ancient forum, and the modernist post office, and the park of the late 19th century, and modern parking lots nearby.
The purpose of the competition is not just to develop a project for the reconstruction of the square, but to make sure that all its constituent elements are harmoniously combined with each other, forming a single living public space.
The competition will be held in two stages: first, an international jury will select three finalists, after which the winner of the competition will be selected by the decision of the municipality.

Reconstruction of the Packard engine plant

The functional program of the project includes housing, retail, business and entertainment facilities, as well as the Packard Museum, recreational and public spaces. It is important to preserve the history and spirit of the place: not only the formal presence of a car museum should remind of what the reanimated space used to be.

Urban SOS: Towards a New Industry

The participants choose the scale and level at which the project will be developed on their own: it can be urban planning, architectural or landscape solutions. At the same time, it is important to demonstrate an integrated and interdisciplinary approach - to solve the problem not only from the position of an architect, but also an economist, sociologist and engineer.
For work, you can choose an object in any city in the world.

Art Lawn 2014

Competitors will need to come up with stylish, bright, functional, simple and inexpensive places to relax: a bench, bench, outdoor chaise longue, chair, stool, or maybe something completely unexpected. At the end of May, the jury will select 15 works to be implemented. For each object, 3000 rubles are allocated.
