It is planned to build an indoor ski complex in the town of Randers, located at the mouth of the Gudeno, the largest river in Denmark. The city, spread out on both banks of the Gudeno, is in dire need of both new bridges and some kind of "iconic" structure that would make it stand out on the map of the country. Well, all of Denmark needs a ski resort - a northern country and quite snowy, but, alas, does not have full-fledged slopes for fans of this sport. Here is the CEBRA bureau, at the suggestion of the Danski agency, specializing in ski tourism, and figured out how to solve these three problems in one fell swoop.
First of all, the architects quite predictably combined bridges and ski slopes, running them one above the other. There will be three such structures in total - giant parabolas intersect in the central part in such a way that in plan this structure resembles a snowflake. The span of each arch will be about 700 meters, the height of the top one will reach 110 meters. In total, the complex will have six slopes - 4 covered slopes and 2 open slopes. According to the architects, this amount is enough for professionals, amateurs, and even children to study in the complex at the same time. Each descent is planned to be equipped with an individual cable car lift, and in the center of the "snowfield" will be designed the core of through vertical communications - elevators and escalators, designed to move from one level to another.
A distinctive feature of Skidome Denmark promises to be that all indoor ski slopes will not be enclosed in an impenetrable pipe, as is usually done, but will receive panoramic glazing, thanks to which beautiful views of Randers and the river will open from the bridges.
In addition to the slopes themselves, the complex will include a hotel, restaurant, bar and shops. In addition, the roof of one of the bridges is supposed to be greened - a wide green ramp-boulevard will become a kind of continuation of the Randers parks and the surrounding natural landscape.
