The Academy is located across the street from the main museum building (work by Libeskind 2001), in a rebuilt former flower market building (total area 2300 m2).
A huge plank "box" adjoins the main facade, penetrating through the wall into the interior: the main entrance is located in it. Inside it is complemented by two more "boxes" containing the audience and the library. These asymmetrical volumes of radiant pine wood symbolize the "container" for the transport of valuable items (in this case, knowledge), as well as Noah's ark.
Since 2001, the volume of the museum's archive has doubled, and the library's collection has tripled, so the construction of a special building for them was more than timely. The Academy will host an educational center offering more than 400 training programs, symposia, conferences, lectures and seminars will be held there. In addition, the building will become the starting point for excursions around the museum (7,000 of them take place annually) and will accommodate offices, a storehouse and utility rooms.
