The building will be located on the territory of a new medical campus in the Leng district. The three-storey building with a rectangular plan will receive wooden facades and interiors, which should distinguish it from faceless standard hospitals.
Sunlight will enter this long and wide structure through the courtyards, the main ones of which will be round in plan, as well as internal “crossroads”, information points, etc. The layout will allow patients and their relatives to move around the hospital as freely as possible. At the same time, each of the floors will receive a clearly defined function: at the bottom there will be premises for examination, diagnostics and procedures, as well as laboratories and cafes; specialists' offices will occupy the second floor, and wards - the third.
The Herzog & de Meuron bureau will also construct another campus building: the Education and Research Center. The six-storey building will be round in plan and with a round atrium in the center. Its lower part will be occupied by an "agora" with lecture and seminar audiences.
