The Italian company Flos, a world renowned manufacturer of lighting and architectural lighting, celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2012.
Almost immediately after the founding of Flos in 1962, its creators Dino Gavina and Cesare Cassina invited architects and designers Tobia Scarpa and brothers Achille Castiglioni and Pierre to develop brand new lighting fixtures. -Giacomo Castiglioni (Pier Giacomo Castiglioni).
They experimented with the shape, materials and designs of the lamps, creating pieces of art that became unsurpassed examples of style and innovation.
At various times, the Flos company collaborated with many famous designers of the world, but it is still natural that the anniversary exposition of the Flos company, prepared jointly by ARCHI STUDIO and the Flos factory for the XVII International Architectural Exhibition ARCH-Moscow 2012, was dedicated to the one who laid the foundations of this exclusively creative, vibrant and bold half-century history - by the outstanding Italian designer Achille Castiglioni.
It was called "Thank you Achille". For this project, Flos received a 3rd Degree Diploma in the category “Best Exhibition in the Light in Architecture” category.
The exposition was interactive - it was possible not only to get acquainted with the legendary works of Castiglioni, but also to attend master classes and lectures on the History of the Creation of Legendary Things, conducted by the daughter of the famous designer, Vice President of the Castiglioni Foundation - Giovanna Castiglioni.
Such a unique event as master classes by Giovanna Castiglioni was held in Moscow for the first time at the initiative of ARCHI STUDIO, which represents Flos in Russia.
In addition to a retrospective presentation at ARCH-Moscow 2012, Flos presented the latest innovative developments in the field of architectural lighting. One could learn about new technologies and architectural programs of the technical collection at lighting seminars.
Here, for the first time in Moscow, samples of collections of lamps with LEDs and novelties of the April Light & Building exhibition (Frankfurt) were demonstrated.
Flos events gathered large audiences of people and professionals who are not indifferent to beauty: architects, designers, engineers, students.
Flos' achievements have always been highly appreciated by the professional community - among the company's numerous awards, there are five “Golden Compasses” of the Italian Industrial Design Association. This award recognizes bold solutions, bright ideas and unsurpassed quality - for what Flos has been known for over 50 years.
