Thus, the ensemble of park structures, created 50 years ago, is completed. Then Niemeyer and landscape designer Roberto Burle Marx designed a park ensemble for the 400th anniversary of San Paolo. It includes the Biennale Pavilion, the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Planetarium. The new concert hall not only complemented the entire complex, but also completed a smaller three-part composition with a stele in the center, similar to the ensemble of the Plaza of the Three Powers in Brasilia, another project of Niemeyer. The 840-seat concert hall is a white wedge-shaped volume with a red canopy protruding above the entrance, reminiscent of a tongue. Its construction met with resistance from conservationists: to make room for the hall, it was necessary to cut down a number of trees in the park. Niemeyer, at 97 years old, is full of creative plans, his novel "And now?" Was recently published in Brazil, dedicated to the fate of an old school communist who does not give up in the face of life's difficulties.
