The new building will appear on the south bank of the Thames, in the Battersea area. The construction site borders the heliport, which gave the building its name - Heliport Heights. The residential tower will be visible from afar thanks to the corten steel cladding of the facades, due to which the townspeople have already nicknamed the project "carrot".
The 15-storey building will be located above the existing 4-storey office building, so the tower will be partially supported by piles. The office building will be remodeled: an art gallery will be set up on the ground floor, and a shiny stainless steel "bob", typical of Alsop's projects, will be attached to its facade a little higher. It will house a small conference room.
The residential building with a total area of 3722 m2 will accommodate 14 apartments: 13 of them will occupy an entire floor, and the 14th, a penthouse, will have two tiers and a roof terrace. The streamlined shape of the tower will provide excellent views from the windows, and balconies are also provided for admiring the panorama of London.
In addition to the original appearance of the future building, which can interfere with the approval of the project, its close proximity to helicopters raises doubts: will it not scare away potential tenants?
