The Marriott hotel is located next to Star Square, on Wagram Avenue, on the site of a late 19th century music hall that was destroyed in an accident in 2005 by an explosion. Behind the new building is the Wagram Hall, a banquet hall from the mid-19th century that is still used today for receptions and concerts. Now - through the hotel building and the garden laid out in the free space behind it - it received a convenient connection with the street, and was also reconstructed.
The glass facade of the hotel is a complex structure of undulating ribbons, in turn, composed of panels of varying degrees of curvature. The irregular "sinusoids" of the glass strips covering individual floors run in antiphase with respect to each other, creating an organic, irregular rhythm of the surface. Portzampark sees this as a modern take on the traditional façade with bay windows.
The façade overlooking the garden is much more traditional: it is entirely occupied by balconies-loggias, as well as the volume of a hotel restaurant with a roof terrace protruding as a console.
