Jourdad, one of the main supporters of green architecture in Europe, received the highest award in France for her contribution to the study of all aspects and possibilities of translating the principles of "sustainable development" in the architectural field. The special relevance of her activities for modern France was also noted: in particular, the tasks that she and her colleagues set for herself coincide with the goals of the state environmental initiative Grenelle de l'Environnement.
Françoise-Helene Jourday herself in her speech at the awards ceremony mentioned that she has been working in the field of "green" architecture for 30 years, and is glad that finally this direction has not only begun to be taken seriously, but also appreciated its unparalleled importance for the modern world. She stressed that "sustainable development" is the only way to prevent an ecological catastrophe on a planetary scale, and that now humanity is on the verge of a new technological revolution - even more important from a historical perspective than the industrial one.
Jourd's creative method is to pay close attention to the resources and characteristics that are characteristic of the environment surrounding her project; it seeks to work closely not only with specialists in the architectural and construction sectors, but also with customers of all levels, including the "end users" of its buildings. This creates the most functional scheme that requires minimal resources. The architect does not abandon the system of aesthetic values, but puts stylistic and formal issues into the background, referring to them when all the constructive aspects of the project have already been thought out.
