Sense of wood is a carpentry term. They denote the ability to intuitively understand the nature and characteristics of wood. The students were asked to go from material to object. Taking their tactile sensations as a basis, they had to go from unconscious first sketches to meaningful projects. This trajectory was very important: according to the heads of the studio, modern architecture loses its sense of corporeality in the search for functional and formal solutions.

“The guys worked very well last year, everyone was very happy, so we continued the theme of wood in architecture now. The most important thing for me was that they experienced wood as a material, touched it from a creative and technical point of view, and through this they understood the possibilities of wood architecture in a modern urban environment.
The works show that they have coped with the task. And this is the most important achievement of our module. The students and I have come a very difficult, exhausting path. They were immediately given the task that they make models, make details. They knew that there would be no indulgences, and they were extremely attentive, and some even unexpectedly reacted to the task. We worked at the maximum of their human, physical and creative capabilities."

“The library building stands in the Morozovsky Garden, on the Ivanovskaya Hill. The architecture of the light and transparent pavilion refers to the architecture of an organ, a musical instrument that stands between furniture and a building. In the process, I came across amazing little rooms in vintage organs where the sound is tuned. They seemed to digest the music, transmitting the sound from a delicate touch to the keys into huge pipes, from which a powerful roar was heard.
The project consists of two spaces: a library, a storehouse with a warm contour, where music is created, and a horizontal volume, a chamber concert hall."
Provincial station

“The station in the city of Mozhga, home of wooden rulers, takes us back to the romantic world of a provincial town with wooden sidewalks and a fire tower. At the same time, the project is completely devoid of stylization, its source is rather anonymous industrial architecture from the railway exclusion zone than station buildings of the early 20th century.
The building seemed to have descended from the pages of the famous albums of Berndt and Hilda Becher, time stood still there, but not in the sense of returning to the past, but stood still like a lonely passenger in the waiting room. Wood, as an aging material, subject to the influence of time, and traditional means being outside of time, corresponds to this state in the best possible way."

“The tree has always been not only about the material, but also about the growth in height, and about the rise. The height of the tree, its ability to "reach the heavens" became fundamental to the concept. This is how the central element was born - the staircase. The utilitarian meaning of the staircase changes here to the sacred. Five wells of the towers are intertwined with passages and staircases, forming a vertical labyrinth that refers us to Escher's space. Visually, this tower seems complex and irresistible. But going upstairs, you can feel real freedom.
The main idea of the future tower was the use of a single module in the structure, a beam of 100x200mm. The ladders connecting the wells of the tower are the connecting element of the structure, which provide it with additional rigidity. The tower consists of five wells: one central and two typical, mirrored along the central axis of the main well. The width of the stairs is chosen in such a way that this tower becomes not just an attraction, it implies the ascent of one person."

“My object is in the forest, but it is not a foreign body in relation to the forest, it is raised closer to the crowns and leaves the forest space intact. This is an object in which you can get lost along with the forest. If the forest could have an active first floor, this would be it. "Greenhouse" comes from the word "glimmer", life glimmers in it, beekeepers and livestock breeders from the Timiryazev Academy are studying, their meetings with local residents, lectures, seminars and discussions.
A greenhouse is a log house raised on pylons, its walls are cut from the halves of a wedge beam, which creates the texture of a chopped tree on the facade with traces of wedges. Like formwork marks on concrete, wood pieces also hold the memory of how they were made. The object is perceived from afar as a wooden massif, as something alive, rough, something about which you can get a splinter, something that does not have a single facet and rustles softly in your hands."
Shelter for stray dogs

“The idea of the project was to synthesize the aesthetics of wooden structures and to solve the problem of stray dogs in Moscow and the Moscow region. Therefore, for a start, I decided to make a structure in which most of the elements and their connections will be open for demonstration to passers-by. So the idea was born to make a layer-by-layer object, where the walls and roof will work separately from each other. The roof itself should cover the entire territory. The next challenge is to rethink people's attitudes towards animal shelters.
I decided to locate the object in Meshchersky Park, because this is a place with pedestrian activity. A place where a person can, without the bustle of the city, be critical of the architecture of the shelter, as well as find a new friend in it. The shelter consists of five blocks, between which there are dog walks. The shelter is also equipped with the necessary facilities and equipment for the care and rehabilitation of dogs. Such a shelter will be a second chance for abandoned dogs and for people who will be able to look differently at the problem of the city."
