One of the latest projects Molo (Molo) will come in handy in the most difficult and dramatic moments of life. These are mobile partitions Molo-Softshelter (Molo-light shelter) made of non-combustible kraft paper, glued together with a multi-layered accordion, due to which a light and at the same time stable and durable construction is obtained.
Molo's designers were prompted to create them by the disasters that have become more frequent in recent years. Such partitions will easily and simply create privacy in temporary shelters. In addition to the optimal division of the common space into personal and ensuring privacy, partitions allow each inhabitant to settle in a temporary dwelling to their liking, create a feeling of home in it, which, of course, will cause positive emotions in people in trouble and help get through troubles.
At the same time, the authors do not limit the prospects of using paper partitions to extreme situations. They can be installed at exhibitions, in trade pavilions, as temporary voting booths, dressing screens, and in general - in any situation where there is a need for space zoning.
The same technology - accordion-folded and cell-glued kraft paper - is used by Molo to make furniture, LED partitions and lamps.
The partitions are transported folded in compact boxes and are ready for immediate installation. They are connected to each other using a removable magnetic panel fixed at the end, so only a couple of people are required in order to assemble the structure within a few minutes, and without any tools.
Due to the cellular structure, the paper walls fold and stretch so that they can be easily adapted to the size and shape of the room.
Mini-rooms can stand separately or be combined into a corridor system.
Door handles made of rubber sheet are attached in different places at the end of the partition. The temporary dwelling is completed with various accessories: LED lamps, pendants with hooks and pockets for personal belongings and even hanging vases. A 12 volt power cable is passed through the walls.
Molo's studio not only created mobile partitions, but also tested them "on itself" - her employee David Ullock lived for four months in such a cubicle, fenced off in the studio, and kept a diary about how he settled the space …
David used improvised items, created furniture from the remaining packaging materials and cardboard.
This experiment helped the authors improve the design. Now the technology is fine-tuned, and the completion of a large order for the manufacture of partitions will take from six to eight weeks.
