In plan, the structure resembles a figure eight. In its western half-ring, there is a main entrance and an atrium covered with a pillow-membrane. The adjacent assembly hall, dining room and cafeteria can be combined with it into a single space thanks to movable partitions.
In the center of the eastern "ring" there is a courtyard with a reservoir, and on the ground floor there are music and art classes with direct access to the outside. The rest of the classrooms are located on the top two floors.
The streamlined plan of the school is echoed in the interior by flowing passages, galleries, stairs. Outside, the building's shape is emphasized by stripes of red and blue dots dividing the floors: there, according to a sketch by the artist Ulrich Erben, the first phrase of the UN Declaration of Human Rights is written in German (national language), English (international language) and Latin (language of science). The facade of the courtyard is decorated in the same way with red and blue panels.
