Bjarke Ingels' bureau BIG designed two towers in the center of Coconut Grove in Miami. On the one hand, they belong to the local typology of residential buildings, where balconies play the role of sun protection devices, shading the panoramic glazing of the facades, on the other hand, the spectacular spiral shape made the BIG residential complex a landmark of the area, also providing each apartment with the most spectacular views from the windows - to the ocean and the city.

Landscaping, commissioned by landscape architect Raymond Jungles, plays an important role in the project. Coconut Grove ("coconut grove") is known for its lush greenery, but its center has recently been in short supply - which has eliminated Grove at Grand Bay. During the construction, the trees that grew on the site (1.2 hectares) were dug up and then returned to the site: this was caused not only by considerations of environmental protection, but also by respect for the history of the area.

The area around the towers, the roof of the garage, the spa center and other "infrastructural" structures, the porch-porch connecting the two towers is now abundantly greened. In total, 460 trees and 15,400 other plants grow there.
