“Yesterday I accidentally learned that I, it turns out, joined the All-Russian Popular Front. I found out from the site https://narodfront.ru, where in the list of organizations that have joined the All-Russian Popular Front, number 35 is the Union of Architects of Russia. And this means that I, like all members of our creative union, in a single impulse, automatically joined the ONF.
In this regard, I would like to express several considerations.
Firstly, as a member of the Union, I was not notified of the upcoming decision, although decisions of this level and importance cannot be made secretly, without broad discussion by all members of the Union;
Secondly, I consider it unacceptable that I join any political movement without my knowledge and consent;
Thirdly, I consider in principle unacceptable the participation of a creative professional organization in political activity, since the members of this organization can adhere to the most diverse political views and beliefs and have no political obligations to the Union. For example, I do not share the goals and objectives of the ONF, and under no circumstances would I voluntarily join this movement.
Fourthly, I am convinced that even the best intentions of the Union leadership do not justify flirting with any political parties and movements;
Now I am in painful doubts - I cannot come to terms with the political orientation forcibly imposed on me, but, at the same time, I would absolutely not want to leave the creative Union, with which I have been closely connected for 35 years. Just in case, I prepared a statement of withdrawal from the Union.
I am aware that this note of mine is unlikely to affect the position of the Union leadership and force them to suspend the Union's participation in the ONF, although a cautious hope does not leave me. If my hope is justified, I will be happy to tear the prepared statement into small pieces."
