Palazzo Campiello, with a small square in front of it, which gave the name to this building, was badly damaged by fire in the early 1980s and was abandoned for almost 30 years. As a result, it was so dilapidated that there could be no question of scientific restoration. But the architects of 3ndy Studio decided to preserve the memory of the historical building even after its complete reconstruction.

The investor's task was to create two buildings from the ruins of the palazzo with 4 offices and 5 apartments. But for the architects, the renovation of the square in front of the building was equally important. In front of the main part of the building, they erected a "second facade", reminiscent of the outlines of the openings of a palazzo. To design its surface, the architects invited a consultant - art historian Philippe Daverio and sculptor Giorgio Milani.

As a result, on the surface of 190 sheets of corten steel (300 m2), quotes from the classics - Lope de Vega and T. S. Elliot, as well as contemporary artists - Italo Calvino and Francesco Bonami. For this Milani used 22 typefaces, one way or another connected with the 19th century, the century of the construction of the palazzo. He called his work "Echoes of Footsteps in Memory".
