The city of Chongqing in the central part of China is surrounded by three mountain ranges at once, which inspired the Beijing architects for an unusual design of the building. The site for the construction of a new public center was set aside on the outskirts of the city, on the border of a residential area and Taoyuan Park. So it turned out that the center belongs to two opposite worlds at once: it certainly exists, but it does not seem to exist.

The object, very complex in its composition, actually unites three independent buildings at once: an athletic center, a public health center and a cultural center. The total area of the building is 10,000 m2. Architects "build" it into the mountainous terrain, forcing to mimic no worse than a chameleon. The rising and falling green "ribbon" helps in this. It unites all buildings, either playing the role of a roof, or pretending to be all sorts of awnings, which is especially important in hot and rainy climates. At the same time, with its help, two cozy courtyards are formed. Trees sprout right through the holes in the roof, and green walls that mimic the hillsides complete the "camouflage". Naturally, the architects also used the thermal insulation properties of green roofs and walls.

Gray concrete structures with fragments of wood trim (in some places, slats are used as sun protection) and panoramic glazing create a complex system of transitions and an intricate alternation of open, partially closed and completely closed areas. In addition, each of the three main buildings also received its own atrium, which, firstly, made it possible to let in natural light, and secondly, it further complicated the spatial organization of the entire center. The line between interior and exterior is almost completely erased, giving staff and guests additional freedom and comfort. So a visit to the center turns into a real adventure.
