The redesign of the M17 Contemporary Art Center consisted primarily of changing the shell and cladding of the building and giving the already recognizable brand a new visual representation that would connect it with the traditions of the Ukrainian avant-garde.
The newly created M17 shell is based on a combination of background "museum" minimalism with modern computational design techniques.
So, the pattern is based on a square turned 45 degrees, a reference to the existing and recognizable windows of the building and to the Ukrainian Suprematist artist Kazimir Malevich, who was born in the immediate vicinity of M17, studied painting at the Kiev Drawing School and taught at the Kiev Art Institute. In the facade pattern, only the size of the square varies, which gives a pixelated image of identity and other graphic geometry.

In the dark, the perforated holes of the galvanized steel facade glow from the inside, lending a discreet ideality to the image.

The identity is designed to improve the visual recognition of the M17 by simultaneously simplifying the graphic image and combining it with the characteristic features of the Ukrainian avant-garde.
