The Light Architecture Festival was held for the first time and was timed to coincide with the International Year of Light and Light Technologies, declared by UNESCO. The event was organized by the Union of Moscow Architects with the support of the Moscow Government and the Moscow Committee for Architecture and Urban Planning. For a week and a half, the Central House of Architects served as a discussion and educational platform for specialists in the field of architectural and interior lighting. In total, about twenty events were held within the framework of the festival with the participation of leading industry companies.
One of the main elements of the program was an open competition "Light architecture", in which projects and realized objects in the field of urban, landscape, architectural and interior lighting competed in several nominations. The results of the festival and competition were summed up at a solemn ceremony on March 27, 2015.
Elena Petukhova
head of the organizing committee of the festival "Light architecture": "The idea of the show-competition and a series of events dedicated to architectural and interior lighting was born a year ago. The Union of Moscow Architects successfully holds the architectural festivals "Golden Section" and "Perspective", but over time, the need to go beyond the purely project discourse began to be felt. And our idea turned out to be not only very relevant (in connection with the celebrated "Year of Light"), but also in demand. The Union's initiative was immediately supported by the Moskomarkhitektura and the Office of Architectural and Artistic Appearance, as well as other departments of the Moscow Government, authoritative expert organizations such as State Unitary Enterprise "Mosvet", institutes of VNISI im. S. I. Vavilov and Moscow Architectural Institute, as well as leading companies in the industry.
Modern architecture is inextricably linked with the use of the latest technical, engineering and design solutions, knowledge and deep understanding of which become an integral part of professional tools. And the issues of the competent use of light for solving architectural, urban planning and design tasks are among the most urgent. Especially in our country: our climate and short daylight hours oblige architects from the very beginning to think over not only the "day face" of the building, but also its evening version. And this is a completely different matter, the light from artificial light sources cannot repeat the sun, and this must be taken into account when choosing volumetric-spatial solutions and finishing materials, using relief and decorative elements, determining the location and types of light sources.
To clarify all the nuances, the architect needs the help of specialized specialists, but in order to achieve truly expressive lighting, the participants in the process must be able to conduct a dialogue, pose questions and find optimal answers, turning a technical task into a creative, creative process in which light and color becomes the main characters.
The Light Architecture Festival was conceived as a platform for such an open dialogue, a place for meetings and discussions between architects, designers, lighting designers, lighting technicians, installers, suppliers and manufacturers of lighting equipment. An extensive program has been developed for this. Two or three events were held every day in the Central House of Architects, which became the main site of the festival. We tried to choose from an endless number of topics that touch upon aspects of the use of architectural, artistic and interior lighting that are relevant for Moscow and Russia, those that could attract listeners of different professions, age and degree of immersion in lighting design topics. These were exhibitions, educational seminars, round tables, bright master classes and informative lectures on the history of lighting design.
Numerous partners of the festival helped us to put together such a rich program, who, having extensive experience and skills in solving various problems in the field of architectural lighting, were able to bring examples from practice, analysis of typical mistakes and suggestions for overcoming them to each event. In addition to the organizations already mentioned above, the Svetoservis group of companies, the Association of Landscape Architects of Russia, the MCFO Association, the LiDS Lighting Design School, the SAROS company, Disano Illuminazione, ARCHI STUDIO took an active part in the Lighting Architecture festival program.
An important part of the concept of the festival "Light Architecture" was originally a review competition, within the framework of which projects and implementations made in the main areas of architectural, interior and landscape lighting competed among themselves. It was in the competition works that the participants and guests of the festival could see and evaluate the real state of the sphere of Russian lighting design and the degree of demand for lighting solutions at various types of objects. The works sent to our review competition demonstrated original techniques, the search for new expressive means and methods of applying the latest technical developments, as well as the clear need for open and objective competition between professionals based on uniform quality criteria and ideals of lighting architecture. The guarantee of the objectivity and authority of the results of the competition was the composition of the jury, which included both generally recognized authorities in the field of lighting design, as well as architects and city officials responsible for the development of the program of architectural and artistic lighting in Moscow.
The main criteria for evaluating the submitted works were two principles: the originality of lighting design solutions and the accuracy of their compliance with the specifics of the architectural object and the range and literacy of using the capabilities of lighting devices. The composition and quality of the works submitted for the competition forced the jury members to adjust the original plans for choosing a winner in each of the announced nominations. During the meeting, the jury decided to take into account a significant number of interesting works nominated in the Implementation section, in the Public Interior Lighting nomination, and to award three awards: for the best project and two best implementations - building lighting and interior lighting. The decision of the jury members was almost unanimous, so the unconditional leaders of the competition were determined very quickly. Almost the same situation has developed with the candidates for the title of the laureate of the competition. Also, after voting by the jury, a circle of authors was outlined, which the jury singled out for non-standard solutions or deep analytical work on the object. All the works awarded by the jury demonstrate a high level of lighting design, the coherence of the work of interprofessional teams and the ability to use technology to solve creative problems.
According to the results of the festival, it can be stated that over the past 20 years, lighting design in Russia has come a long way of development: megalopolises develop and implement concepts of integrated lighting of iconic elements of the urban environment, new technologies are introduced into practice, lighting companies are created and successfully operate, lighting design is becoming an integral part of status projects. But much remains to be done. One of the urgent tasks is the need to officially recognize the profession of lighting designer, create a creative association of lighting designers and set the task of organizing relevant faculties and departments for specialized universities. At the same time, the popularization of the use of light design in new construction, reconstruction and restoration projects, as well as in the creation of public spaces, should take place - both among the architectural community and among city and federal authorities, as well as developers, for many of whom lighting design remains an optional option. only increasing the cost and complicating the process of project implementation. And, of course, it is necessary to involve manufacturers and suppliers of lighting equipment in this activity. The Union of Moscow Architects hopes that the Light Architecture Festival will become part of the overall process and will continue to fulfill its constructive role as a place for meetings, analysis and discussion of pressing problems. We, as always, invite all interested parties and organizations to cooperate."

External and internal lighting of the Arsenal building, in which the Volga-Vyatka branch of the NCCA is located, is intended to reflect the role of the historical building as an important modern cultural institution. The basic principle of building illumination is the uniform illumination of the historic façade. Facade luminaires are located along the symmetry axes of the window walls. On their supports there are lamps for illuminating the territory. Separately, spotlights illuminate a 160-meter bench installed in front of the building.
The display lighting of the Arsenal building is based on the principles of maximum visual comfort, flexibility and energy efficiency. LED dimmable busbar luminaires provide six types of light distribution: four symmetrical, from very narrow to very wide, and oval and asymmetric - for illuminating vertical surfaces. The flexibility of installation and direction of the device makes it possible to effectively illuminate an object of any size.
Interior lamps illuminate the common space, emphasize architectural solutions, create an atmosphere, complement exhibition lighting, are used as movement guides, and are also eye-catching art objects.

The concept of reconstruction of the Muzeon Park is aimed at increasing the flexibility of using the park's environment, creating new public spaces, compacting and changing the types of road and path network, functional saturation of the territory, increasing the variety of types of green spaces and forms of landscaping. These tasks are implemented through planning solutions, the creation of new functional and landscape objects and the design of a new type of lighting for Moscow parks. The architectural lighting concept of "Muzeon" involves the zoning of space with the help of light. Thanks to the lighting at night, a different atmosphere is achieved throughout the park. The second most important task is to create a flexible lighting system for the large number of exhibits in the park. The outdoor lighting scheme assumes several types of lighting in accordance with the different status of park areas and functional tasks. Large public areas - boulevard and squares - are illuminated by lamps on 10-meter poles, spaced at a frequency of 17 meters. The alleys are illuminated by several lamps from 4-meter supports. The direction and type of illumination of these luminaires can vary depending on the needs. Thus, from one support, you can illuminate the alley itself, illuminate a tree and illuminate a sculpture.

Modern energy-saving LED systems are used as lighting equipment.
For lighting wall panels: flexible, full-color SMD 5050 RGB LED strip, which is connected via an RGB controller and controlled by a remote control.
Ceiling lamps: profile recessed PROLICHT, LED OPG 220V 32W IP20, anodized aluminum; dimensions 1200 x 85 x 90 mm (Russia); recessed SLV Led Panel CL 136, 24V = with 96 LED 50W, 3000K, 2920 lm, aluminum, overall dimensions of the luminaire 596 x 596 x 32 mm (Germany)
The austere solution of the white interior of the hall is contrasted with open panoramic views and offices designed in various colors. Built-in LED lighting adds geometric and vectorial dynamics to the glossy hall space. With the help of the remote control, the light can change color gamut and intensity to suit any mood or presentation task. The interior of the hall is enlivened by a large marine aquarium built into the wall.
The lighting solution of the large meeting room is interesting: communications and building structures are left for viewing, covered with a transparent tinted glass suspended ceiling. Its lighting also changes its intensity and color, creating a different mood, leaving concrete floors and utilities almost in sight. In the small meeting room, on the other hand, a cozy atmosphere is realized, created at will or need by blackout curtains, natural wood trim (as opposed to the gloss of the hall) and spot lighting of the meeting table. However, complete openness is also possible here - the curtains move aside, the large glass doors, fixed on the "air" rails, move apart - and the whole room, filled with warm light, opens up.

Power consumption per lobby: about 650 W
Lobby Illumination: 250 Lux
Lighting temperature: 3000K
The lobbies and public areas of typical floors of three 10-entrance buildings of the residential complex “Dominion” were supposed to be united by a common theme, while it was necessary to make the design of each building individual. The theme of the primary natural elements, "earth", "water" and "fire", has successfully entered this canvas. A person, passing through these spaces, plunges into another world, the world of nature, tranquility, tranquility, free from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Special lighting was selected for each topic. To the "earth" is the warm hidden light of the walls, in contrast to the cold openings in the ceiling, as if daylight penetrated into the cave. Toward "water" is more abstract, reflected from mirrored surfaces. To the “fire” - sparks from the ceiling, the flame of an onyx panel, etc. Almost all the light is built on LEDs, which made it possible to significantly reduce energy consumption without sacrificing artistic expression.

Office of the NTV company
Bureau Proektor
Address: Moscow, st. Argunovskaya, 5
Total area: 7112.5 sq. m
Customer: TV company NTV
Authors: T. Kononova (GAP), M. Levin, architect
Design dates 2010
Date of implementation: 2011
The office of the NTV television company is located on eight floors of a recently rebuilt building not far from the television center. The exclusively administrative function of this space, nevertheless, had to be framed in the recognizable corporate identity of the TV company. Since the customer saw it as light, open, modern and solid, regardless of the rank of the employees occupying a particular room, the Scandinavian approach to design was taken as a basis, where lightness, transparency, and manufacturability prevail. The foyer of the office is the brightest image area. Light panels in the cladding of walls and supporting columns create a sense of severity and comfort; phytowalls add coziness. The information board becomes a major decorative element associated with the design of the reception desk, which is thought to be an allusion to the TV studio. The luminous map on its back wall represents the company's broadcasting areas. A light strip on the ceiling shows the visitor the direction of movement towards the elevator hall. The theme of the light beam becomes the leitmotif in the decorative solution of the office - thin luminous lines, similar to the sunbeams breaking through, appear in the corridors and halls. They are organically complemented by "green" phytowalls, which create a favorable background for working days. Sometimes light panels and phytowalls are combined in the form of a panel with LED backlighting and an enlarged image of natural motives.

Large-sized LED luminaire NIMB is designed specifically for illumination of spacious rooms - atriums, halls and galleries of public
and commercial spaces. The model allows you to take into account the specifics of such objects, combining efficiency and unique design with a high degree of light comfort. Initially, the luminaire was conceived as a functional and decorative solution that would not only provide the required level of illumination, but also draw attention to any object due to its spectacular shape and impressive dimensions. Despite its size, NIMB gives the impression of lightness and airiness. This is facilitated by the through part of the form, which provides an opportunity for unlimited creativity, the embodiment of the ideas of designers and architects. The luminaire has two standard sizes - 1500 and 2000 mm in diameter, dimmable version ("1-10" or DALI) and reduced power ecover. For all its decorativeness, NIMB has the highest efficiency: due to the light transmission features of the body material, the luminous efficiency of the luminaire reaches 87 lm / W, and its large dimensions provide a luminous flux of up to 52,000 lm. Uniform illumination of the case, no pixelation, ripple coefficient less than 1%, lifespan of more than 50 thousand hours are also advantages of this model.
