The project, created with the support of the Italian Foreign Ministry, was presented a year before the official opening of the next World Exhibition: Expo in Dubai will be held from October 20, 2020 to April 10, 2021.
On the facade of the Italian pavilion, the slogan “Beauty connects people” will be placed - a reference to the official motto of the Expo - “Connecting minds, creating the future”. The unexpected reliance on aesthetics is continued in the idea of the pavilion: it rests on three ships (more precisely, ends with them), which seem to have sailed to the UAE from Italy - as in
Christmas song.
In fact, the ships will simply be delivered to Dubai and used for roofing. Other "recyclable materials" include orange peel and coffee grounds (they will go to the footbridge), plastic caught from the ocean. It is also planned to use mycelium during construction.
The building will do without air conditioning, and an artificially poured dune will become its main building. The facade and internal partitions will be made of nautical ropes and LED curtains.
