The project involves the reconstruction of the building, now in disrepair, with the aim of turning it into a Muslim religious center. According to the architects, today the basic principles of Islam are often misinterpreted by the younger generation, therefore the purpose of the future center will be to spread the whole and correct interpretation of Islam and counter extremist sentiments among Muslims.
The religious center is located on a 0.1 hectare site far from the center of the business, political and cultural life of Yekaterinburg. The key criterion when choosing a place was the inadmissibility of conflicts with adherents of other religions. Public transport stops are within walking distance. The territory provides ground parking for 13 cars.
There is a shallow reservoir at the main entrance, symbolizing the process of transition from the world of everyday life to a spiritual, sacred space. This pool glows at night, giving the illusion that the building is floating above the water.
The solution of the facades combines two styles: they use various ornaments that have been of great importance in Islamic culture since ancient times. Due to daylight, a play of light and shade is created inside the building, and due to evening lighting - outside.
The volume of the building is divided into two tiers, interconnected by a transition space. Entering the building, visitors find themselves on the first tier - in the lobby, from where they can immediately get into the dressing room and bathrooms equipped with showers. All bathrooms are located on the ground floor so that you can take a bath before visiting other parts of the religious center. There is also a small library with an area of 24 m², a classroom for teaching youth, a Quran room and recreation rooms, administrative and storage areas. The second tier - the prayer tier - is the main one. Designed for 100 believers, it is divided into two parts by sliding partitions that delimit the spaces for men and women.
