The Design Without Borders competition was announced by REHAU and ARCHITIME. RU in June. The participants had to develop an original design of objects for a country interior or exterior using the RELAZZO naturo terrace system. In total, the organizers received 36 works, the best of which was the "stop-mirage" by Sergei Shcherbinenko.
The author tried to turn an ordinary element of the transport infrastructure into an unusual, but still functional object. The task set by Sergei is to create a stop that can decorate both urban and rural landscapes, and will become a landmark place of architectural value.
The project has been carefully thought out taking into account the needs of modern citizens. The Mirage Stop is divided into two zones: a transport waiting bench, located under a canopy, and a parking lot for bicycles and scooters. Special attention is paid to lighting. In the evening, the stop will not go unnoticed thanks to the illumination of diodes hidden between the edges of the boards.
“We received so many worthy works that we had to gather an expert council to select the best one,” says Andrey Beloedov, executive director for sales and marketing of REHAU in Eastern Europe. - Nevertheless, in most of the projects presented, the terrace system was either shown in a standard application (finishing terraces, gazebos, pools), or was a transformation of our main prize - a WPC deck chair. Sergei's idea, in our opinion, is fundamentally different from the others: it serves as an example of boundless imagination, embodies innovation and plays an important role in the formation of urban space. We consider this project worthy of implementation and do not exclude that the stop of the future will soon decorate one of the streets or park alleys of the capital”.
