The ceremony of awarding the laureates of the XX Zodchestvo-2012 festival took place on December 12 in the Manezh. This year, the festival was late and was held at an unusual time for itself: New Year's holidays are not far off, so the mood of those gathered at the ceremony was joyful despite the protracted celebration of participants in all kinds of contests in all possible nominations. The ceremony was hosted by Andrey Bokov, who himself received festival diplomas more than once that evening.
The main awards this year went to St. Petersburg - the Vladimir Tatlin award and the "Crystal Daedalus", two gold signs in the "Projects" section and one more - in the "Buildings" section, as well as "gold" in the nomination "Architecture and urban planning of regions and cities of Russia ". Victor Churilov, presenting this award, read out a special inscription on the golden sign: "For his contribution to the development of one of the main cities of northwestern Europe." And this is not counting the numerous silver and bronze diplomas in almost all festival sections.
The Grand Prix in the category "Buildings" and "Crystal Daedalus", as well as "gold" among buildings, was awarded to the St. Petersburg architectural studio "Studio 44" for
Palace of Creativity of Schoolchildren in Astana. “For us, it was an experimental work from all points of view,” Nikita Yavein said from the stage. “This is the first completed project of a Russian architect on the territory of Kazakhstan in the post-Soviet period. When we won the competition, at first we thought it was a joke. It became even funnier when we were invited to build. And when they said that in a year and a half the object should be put into operation, it was no laughing matter. Many thanks to our Kazakh partners who helped us to implement this project."
Nikita Yavein became the undisputed favorite of Zodchestvo: his project of his football stadium in Nizhny Novgorod (in the form of a large green hill) received a diploma as the best "green" building; the project for the restoration of the Alexander Palace in Pushkin was also among the laureates.
The main award in the Projects section, the Vladimir Tatlin Prize, was also awarded to the A. Len team from St. Petersburg for the project of the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Kabul. Young architect Pavel Kochnev received prizes not only from his bureau, but also from other St. Petersburg collectives, and therefore by the end of the ceremony he was even tired of going up the stage. Mikhail Khazanov singled out A. Len bureau among the three best Russian architectural workshops (Mosproekt-4 and Homeland Group were also noted) and even admitted that he personally named the name of A. Len head Sergei Oreshkin among the contenders for the medal Union named after Bazhenov.
The best among the buildings, in addition to the Palace of Creativity in Astana, were the "Hypercube" in Skolkovo by the Bernasconi bureau - the first object implemented on the territory of the innovation city, and the metro line from Maryino to Zyablikovo by Nikolai Shumakov, who invited almost the entire project team of Metrogiprotrans to the stage for awards … Nikolai Shumakov, president of the Agrarian Academy of Sciences, joked: "I am glad that the festival responded to the call of the Moscow government for large-scale construction of the metro and decided to support the metro designers."

The best projects were again named the works of two St. Petersburg teams, one of which is the aforementioned Science Center of the A. Len bureau, and the second is the project of a residential building on the Pedestrian embankment of the Northern Dvina in Arkhangelsk, Mamoshin's Workshop. For Mikhail Mamoshin, this is the first job outside St. Petersburg. The Golden Sign of the Festival was also awarded to the Kurotproekt Institute represented by Mikhail Mindlin, Anton Nagavitsyn and Mikhail Khazanov for the project of the NCCA. Mikhail Khazanov thanked everyone who supported them "in these difficult days with this difficult project" and expressed the hope that the Center for Contemporary Art, after wandering around Moscow, will nevertheless find its place.
The team of the Kurortproekt institute also took the silver medal for the project of the Old Town complex of buildings for cultural, entertainment, sports and residential purposes. Next to him in the list of silver medalists were Mosproekt-4 with a multifunctional complex in Salekhard and IQ-studio with a cottage village in the Odintsovo district of the Moscow region.
I must say that this year the laureates were selected by an international jury from Serbia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Belarus, Latvia. Such an experiment made it possible to receive diplomas for those who usually sit on the jury themselves and present awards. Viktor Logvinov, taking the silver badge for the "Old Town" project, admitted that he liked the experiment very much, and it would be worth repeating in the future.
In addition, during the ceremony, awards of the International Academy of Architecture were presented (by the way, she again went to the piggy bank of the northern capital - to Boris Lvovsky for the project of reconstruction of the territory of the Red Banner factory under the IFC), diplomas for the best books and films about architecture, awards in the nomination Urban Development”, where Nizhny Novgorod, Irkutsk, Perm and Gelendzhik were noted.
Boris Uborevich-Borovsky was awarded the Sergei Kiselev Reputation Prize. The medal of the Zholtovsky Union of Architects was awarded to Mikhail Mikhailovich Papkov, an outstanding teacher of the Moscow Architectural Institute, and four architects received the Bazhenov medal at once - Alexei Bavykin, who was jokingly afraid that they were trying to retire him in this way, Sergei Oreshkin, Vyacheslav Ukhov and Boris Shabunin. The Golden Badge for "Honor and Dignity" was awarded to the former chief architect of Moscow, Alexander Kuzmin. He himself was not present at the ceremony, and the host of the ceremony, Andrei Bokov, commented on the jury's decision as follows: "This award is awarded only to those architects who have earned this right with their entire life and professional activities."
Perhaps the most touching moment was the awarding ceremony for architectural schools. Eduard Tovmasyan, presenting awards to the younger generation, addressed the audience with a fiery speech: “Let the Minister of Culture do not consider architecture to be art, let the Department of Culture be sure that architecture is not interesting to the people, but children's architectural and artistic creativity, thanks to the efforts of our teachers, exists and will be always exist!"
