The 16-storey office building Bałtyk (Baltyk - Baltika) is located outside the historic center, which gave the architects a certain amount of freedom. However, the proximity to the mid-19th century printing house (which now houses the Concordia Design conference center) determined a well-thought-out solution for the building at ground level: in particular, a public space was created there.
The complex shape of the tower allows it to radically "change its appearance" depending on the point of view. Glazed facades are protected from the sun by GRC profiles; they also give unity to the appearance of Bałtyk. On the south wall, a series of terraces are arranged for employees to relax.
On a total area of 25,000 m2 there are 12,000 m2 of offices, on the top floor there is a panoramic restaurant (750 m2), combined with a hotel for one room and a jazz club, in the base of the building (1350 m2) there are shops and cafes. There is also a three-level underground parking.
Open plan offices do not reach a depth of more than 7 meters from the facade, which allows them to be provided with natural light.
