A year ago, the architect won the corresponding competition, but its organizers did not demand from the project participants - only ideas and preliminary sketches. Now the appearance of the building has become clear, which will appear opposite the main creation of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, who erected the main building of the school at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
Of course, the project will still be finalized, but already now we can see the similarity with another Hall building in a similar environment -
Higgins Hall at the Pratt Institute in New York. As well as there, the architect plans to use opaque glass for the facade, and 100% recyclable materials. This decision is due to his desire to repeat one of the main features of the Macintosh building - "an amazing variety of light" in its interiors, but in a new, modern way.
At street level, the building will be connected to the city, while inside the building it will unite the “cycle of connections”, which promotes creative cooperation of students.
The new building will house workshops, seminars and auditoriums, cafes, exhibition areas, administration premises.
