Sokolniki

The Sokolniki Park of Culture and Leisure has announced an international competition for the development of a concept that will determine the park's development strategy for the next 15 years, RIA Novosti reports. The total prize fund is 3 million rubles. The jury will select 5 finalists who will finalize the concepts to be presented in the 2nd round. The concept should combine a variety of landscape and software content, take into account the interests of various groups of visitors and at the same time represent a sustainable financial model. Applications can be submitted until June 17, the winners will be announced on September 17. At the moment, 63 pre-applications and 5 applications have been registered on the official website of the competition.

Also, according to the director of the park, Andrei Lapshin, RIA Novosti writes that the entrance group of Sokolniki will return to the historical appearance of the 1930s this year, in addition, the renovation of the symphonic and central stage will be completed.

UrbanUrban did not wait for the results of the competition and asked experts what to do with the largest park in Moscow, and also wrote about new global trends in the development of city parks. Yopolis casually collects money for a sensor garden-constructor for Sokolniki.

VDNKh

VDNKh history researcher Fedot Pukhlov told The Village about what is happening on the territory of the exhibition. According to him, the reality is very different from what was declared. For example, the pavilions were to be reconstructed by specialists who would have studied the documents and weighed all the pros and cons. But instead, "absolutely clumsy" cosmetics "are produced, leading to new losses." The landscape of the exhibition also suffers: rhododendrons are chopped down, cotoneaster is destroyed, lilac bushes were uprooted in the area of the aquarium, and in Michurinsky garden several varietal apple trees were deprived of their root system. Fortunately, after the public outcry, the landscape was no longer "put in order." Konstantin Mikhailov in Gazeta.ru calls VDNKh "an exemplary testing ground, where various technologies are being worked out in field and alley conditions on how not to preserve unique objects of cultural heritage."

Izvestia tells about one of the positive results of the reconstruction: a third of the entire complex will be pedestrianized, and on some days it will not be possible to enter the territory by private transport even for a fee.

Anna Vyazemtseva prepared an article for Archi.ru, in which she finds analogues of the reconstruction of VDNKh in history, in particular, she talks about the reconstruction of ancient monuments of Rome on the initiative of Benito Mussolini in the 1920s - 30s.

ZIL Peninsula

The chief architect of Moscow, Sergei Kuznetsov, told the Portal of the Moscow Architectural Council that the central pedestrian boulevard of the new residential area on the site of the ZIL industrial zone will consist of restored historical buildings. According to him, this project generally includes an unprecedentedly broad program for the preservation of historical monuments. "Big City" cites figures: about 1 million square meters will be built anew. m of housing, and reconstructing - about 1.5 million square meters. The main part of the territory (3.5 million sq. m.) will be occupied by infrastructure.

Moscow Perspective reveals more details: among other things, the territory of the former plant will house the largest sports cluster in Russia - the Park of Legends quarter. An Ice Palace with three arenas, a water entertainment center with a synchronized swimming section, a health center, a congress media center, a Museum of Hockey Glory, as well as offices, hotels and parking lots will appear on its territory."Moscow 24" conveys the words of Sergei Kuznetsov that the embankment along the territory of ZIL after the improvement will become an analogue of the Croisette embankment in Cannes or the Promenade des Anglais in Nice.

Petersburg

City 812 cites the forecast of the head of the Center for Strategic Research Vladimir Knyaginin regarding the future of the northern capital: Petersburg in 2030 will be a good competition for European cities, and qualified specialists from the Baltic countries will be drawn to work here. Perhaps, this will be facilitated by the graduates of the new institute of urban studies "Wednesday", which starts recruiting students on June 10. The Institute positions itself as an analogue of Strelka. It is organized in collaboration with the University of Technology Barcelona and will provide graduates with an MBA. So far, the most radical proposal for the transformation of St. Petersburg remains the concept of "New Petersburg", which was developed by Gennady Sokolov's workshop "ArchStudio", - Gorod 812 also tells about it.

Maria Elkina and Anna Delgado on the pages of the newspaper "Moi District" are trying to figure out why over the past 15 years of the construction boom in St. Petersburg, not a single new sight has appeared. And the publication Zaks.ru reports that the public movement "Protection of the Historical Center" sent a letter to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, signed by 2000 citizens: they ask to cancel the program "Preservation and development of the territories" Konyushennaya "and" Northern Kolomna - New Holland " … The main reason for the protests is the plans of the city authorities to move residents from the reconstructed houses to the mobile fund.
