The Sokolniki Park of Culture and Leisure has announced an international competition for the development of a concept that will determine the park's development strategy for the next 15 years, RIA Novosti reports. The total prize fund is 3 million rubles. The jury will select 5 finalists who will finalize the concepts to be presented in the 2nd round. The concept should combine a variety of landscape and software content, take into account the interests of various groups of visitors and at the same time represent a sustainable financial model. Applications can be submitted until June 17, the winners will be announced on September 17. At the moment, 63 pre-applications and 5 applications have been registered on the official website of the competition.
Also, according to the director of the park, Andrei Lapshin, RIA Novosti writes that the entrance group of Sokolniki will return to the historical appearance of the 1930s this year, in addition, the renovation of the symphonic and central stage will be completed.

VDNKh history researcher Fedot Pukhlov told The Village about what is happening on the territory of the exhibition. According to him, the reality is very different from what was declared. But instead, "absolutely clumsy" cosmetics "are produced, leading to new losses." The landscape of the exhibition also suffers: rhododendrons are chopped down, cotoneaster is destroyed, lilac bushes were uprooted in the area of the aquarium, and in Michurinsky garden several varietal apple trees were deprived of their root system. Fortunately, after the public outcry, the landscape was no longer "put in order." Konstantin Mikhailov in Gazeta.ru calls VDNKh "an exemplary testing ground, where various technologies are being worked out in field and alley conditions on how not to preserve unique objects of cultural heritage."
Izvestia tells about one of the positive results of the reconstruction: a third of the entire complex will be pedestrianized, and on some days it will not be possible to enter the territory by private transport even for a fee.
