Last week Colta.ru decided to once again address the event that has become one of the most notable in Russian opera life - the opening of a new stage at the Mariinsky Theater. The publication asked architectural and music experts about the violation of the usual harmony in music and architecture.

And in the capital this week the next international architectural exhibition "Arch Moscow" was held. Since 2013 is an odd year, the exposition has for the most part become a springboard for experimental, youthful projects, Gazeta.ru reported. Nevertheless, the works of the masters were also involved: for example, they were presented at the exhibitions “Architect of the Year” and “New Moscow”. The unspoken installation of the exhibition, the newspaper writes, is that it is "about Moscow, explicitly or indirectly."

One of the expositions of the Arch of Moscow was ArchiPrix International, where 300 best diploma projects of architectural schools from all over the world were presented. Afisha spoke with several foreign architects who were the authors of the projects (who also participated in the ArchiPrix workshop organized by the Strelka Institute) about their impressions of Moscow and how the urban environment in the capital can be improved.

By the way, about improving the quality of the urban environment, the Building Technologies magazine published a research article about the history and successful examples of the transformation of Moscow industrial zones, including Krasny Oktyabr, Krasnaya Roza and Winzavod, into art clusters.

Also this week it became known about the approval of the project for the planning of the territory of the former plant "Red October", - reported IA Regnum. The project involves the preservation of historic buildings, minimal new development and a pedestrian zone.

Continuing the theme of heritage preservation: after the destruction of a part of the historic quarter in Vyborg, which caused a violent reaction from the public, Lenta.ru and Ogonyok published reports from the ancient city. After talking with local activists and representatives of the authorities, the correspondents found out that the reason for the demolition was both the absence of approved protected zones in the general plan and the sale of monuments in the past without protective encumbrances.

While the townspeople and the authorities in Vyborg are solving the problem of preserving the historical buildings, the city defenders of St. Petersburg have taken a constructive initiative to draw up an interactive map of the city's “sore spots”: historic buildings, attics, remakes and more. This was reported by "My District".

And "RIAN Real Estate" this week recalled interesting pages from the history of Moscow architecture: the most famous works of the architect Alexei Shchusev and 7 grandiose projects of Soviet architects that were never implemented.
