The Khoroshkola project won first place in the "Concept of educational institutions" category at the international competition for innovative projects Re-thinking The Future Awards. As noted during the competition, the KROST Concern presented a project in which “from the very beginning, architects and teachers worked together to create not just a building, but a completely new educational environment for the formation of a person of the XXI century”.

Formation of images and brands of the future, taking into account the inevitable growth of human needs and projected climatic changes, is one of the tasks of Re-thinking The Future (RTF). “These needs must be met not only in the present, but also for future generations. RTF was born out of the idea of creating a new window of opportunity for international trends in architecture and design,”emphasizes the co-founder and director of this project, Vikas Pavar (India).

512 participants from 84 countries competed in 22 categories - from “Buildings of Cultural Institutions” to “Hospitality of Urban Design”. "Khoroshkola" (Khoroshevskaya gymnasium) withstood serious competition. In years past, the American and Chinese have won in the general education category. So, in 2016, the El Centro Campus of the Northeastern University of Illinois (USA, Chicago) won the palm, and in 2015 - the Tiantai No.2 Primary School (PRC, Tiantai). But this time the KROST project convinced the international jury of its advantages. And this is not surprising, in 2016 the school was included in the short list of the World Architecture Festival (WAF) in the category "Project of an educational institution".

The project of the Khoroshevskaya gymnasium was a continuation of the project of the children's educational center, also developed and implemented by the KROST Concern in the 75th quarter of Khoroshevo-Mnevniki of the capital. “The teachers came up with the project of the Khoroshevskaya gymnasium together with the customer and the architects. As a project for a children's educational center, the school was supposed to become a model of some ideal environment for the formation of a person of the future, moreover, a peaceful, tolerant and enlightened future. In Russia, there are a large number of design standards, especially projects for children are strictly regulated. But we decided that we can accommodate all the necessary premises, meet the standards, meet the budget and do it all beautifully. In the modern world, a well-designed function is the embodiment of beauty,”said Denis Kapralov, Deputy General Director of the KROST Concern.

The project forms a new educational system. To reveal the abilities and improve students, a variety of spaces have been created for creativity, research, and studies. On the 4th floor, there is a whole scientific cluster that combines a biological, physical and chemical laboratory, classes for robotics, 3D modeling, and digital technologies. The project includes a large theater hall, music and art rooms, a large-scale sports complex with a swimming pool, halls for physical education, choreography, martial arts, etc. The sports block has a separate entrance, which allows using the complex in the evening.

During the implementation of the project, materials and structures of the industrial complex of the KROST Concern were used. The director of the industrial complex of the Concern Andrey Sazonov said that a number of innovative architectural and design solutions were used in the project. “For example, the staircase in the atrium was made according to a special order of the Concern from concrete, equal in strength to steel. We have used this material for the first time in Russia. It is concrete with new properties, created on the basis of revolutionary technologies. The building has very beautiful facades made of fiber-reinforced concrete panels manufactured by the Concern's Fibrol factory. The outer surface of the panels imitates travertine stone and natural wood. The facade is also decorated with elements of architectural concrete from the Magino factory. Modern building materials of our own production and new technologies allow us to implement the most ambitious projects,”noted Andrey Sazonov.

The opening of Khoroshkola will take place in September this year.
