Jean-Michel Wilmotte won the competition for the design of a football arena in Kaliningrad. It will be located on Oktyabrskiy Island, where a 220-hectare site has been allocated for sports facilities, hotels and infrastructure. The master plan of the territory provides for the creation of a network of canals, an artificial lake, a park and a yacht pier there.
The capacity of the stadium during the World Cup will be 45 thousand spectators, then its upper part will be dismantled, reducing the number of seats to 25 thousand. The facades of the building will be partially covered with digital screens, and its flat roof can be easily moved depending on weather conditions and events held: competitions, concerts, congresses, etc. The Russian partner of the architect will be NGO Mostovik (among other things, it is planned to connect the island with the banks of the Pregolya River with several new bridges).
Bureau Populous, which will build a stadium in Rostov-on-Don according to a similar scheme (the volume of 45 thousand spectators will then be reduced to 25 thousand) was inspired in its project by the outlines of the mounds of southern Russia.
British architect Dexter Morin, a renowned hotel design specialist, will build the world's first stadium for the 2018 World Cup. This will be the FC Spartak arena in Moscow. According to Building Design magazine, Morin successfully designed a hotel in London for the investor of this sports complex and therefore received an order for the stadium.
Morin designed the external and internal design of the arena, complementing the project of the AECOM bureau. The façade will be covered with red and white diamond-shaped panels reminiscent of the club's emblem and will have 6 entrance pavilions. Let us remind you that this is not the first version of the stadium for Spartak: before that, in particular, there was a project by the bureau ar.te.plan.
Studio Egret West London bureau has developed a master plan for the Khodynskoye field at the request of Aviapark. There it is proposed to create the largest new park in Moscow over the past 80 years - "Orbit".
In its center will be the National Museum of Aviation and Cosmonautics (its building was designed by the same architects), and "pavilions of the planets" and buildings of the "runway" will be erected, which will connect the territory with the surrounding buildings; a large underground garage will be arranged underground.
Playgrounds and sports grounds will be arranged along the perimeter of the park, and residents of neighboring houses will be able to walk there with a dog or have a picnic. This area will be surrounded by a kilometer long ice skating track. Closer to the center and the museum will be lawns for events, groves and eco-planting.
AECOM has developed a landscape solution for Skolkovo: we are talking about 460 hectares, which the architects divided into 8 zones of different types, but everywhere their design should emphasize the architectural and “meaningful” components of the innovation city. The planned "clusters" include a tree nursery, a children's park, "Valley of Experiments" and "Playground".
