The Mayfair apartment building is not the first work of Zaha Hadid Architects for Melbourne: for example, in 2016 the city authorities approved the project of the multifunctional 600 Collins Street skyscraper of the same bureau. Mayfair will be much more modest in size: 19 floors (64.4 m) - instead of 154 at Collins Street, which will house 158 apartments ranging from one to five bedrooms (70 m² - 556 m²).
The "fluidity" of the Australian landscape and the surrounding ocean, the architects embodied in the motif of waves on the facade: using specially developed algorithms, it helped to harmonize a single design with a variety of layouts. The optimization algorithm was also useful in minimizing the difference between different parts of the outer walls, which made it possible to reduce the number of panel types and significantly reduce their costs.
The apartments with panoramic glazing and balconies-terraces and with a common exploited roof with swimming pools and solarium offer views of the adjacent parks, the bay, and the business center of Melbourne. On the ground floor, there is a double-height space for the restaurant, which will connect the house with the city.
