The School pavilion, which will be the mouthpiece of the MARCH architecture school all summer, was designed by the young architect Igor Chirkin, who won the All-Russian competition. His project was selected for cost-effectiveness, versatility and interior flexibility.
The School is the first new building in the Muzeon Park, which will soon be re-planned according to the project of Evgeny Ass.
An example of the park named after Gorky, who has regained his historical meaning and organically integrated into the context of a modern city, seduces first of all his neighbor and successor (from an urban planning point of view) - Muzeon Park. Originally conceived and designed as a landscaped area around the Central House of Artists, the park eventually became an independent link in the chain Vorobyovy Gory - Neskuchny Garden - Park named after Gorky is the arrow of Bolotny Island. But in its current state, the park is not doing very well with this function. It is hampered by a planning structure that does not interact with the environment, fences, cut off from the embankment.
The Directorate of Muzeon Park, headed by Elena Tyunyaeva, attracted Evgeny Ass to the development of a project for reorganizing the structure of the park, and in the course of the work an image of a new space was created, directed from the Crimean shaft to the embankment. In order not to destroy all existing paths and not to make them again later, a pedestrian flooring will be created, passing over the current structure of the park (its installation will begin in the near future), which will lead the pedestrian from the main entrance diagonally to the arrow of Krasny Oktyabr, where it is possible to create a message with the island. Several pavilions will be built, one of which - an informational one at the entrance - has already been designed and its author is also Igor Chirkin.
The School pavilion will host the events of the MARCH school open program throughout the summer, which includes lectures by teachers and invited specialists. Upcoming events include a lecture by Rubens Cortez on May 31, a Cornell University discussion "Neighborhood: A View from New York" on June 5, and a lecture by Evgeny Assa "Urban Dialogues" on June 7
