A new program of the UK government envisages the construction of three Titan prisons for 2,500 inmates each to accommodate the growing population of British prisons.

Alsop became interested in "creative" prison design back in 2006, after meeting with inmates at Gartree Prison in Leicestershire. Then he developed a project of tower-like prisons, where prisoners of category C, the least dangerous or deserving good behavior, would be placed in less harsh conditions than the rest. They will be able to move around the building, lock themselves in cells, use infrastructure facilities such as swimming pools.

Alsop then stated that his project received positive reviews from both prisoners and guards; the only unhappy were his fellow architects, who denounced Will Alsop for designing human rights abuses.

Alsop now works with Capita Architecture and Wates, tasked with designing new prisons as part of the reform of Britain's penal system.
