The park, the first phase of which was commissioned last year, is located on the banks of the East River, near the Brooklyn Bridge. There are spectacular views of Manhattan from there. The carousel, produced in 1922 and surviving a fire, was acquired by Brooklyn Bridge Park developer's wife Jane Walentas back in 1984. She spent many years restoring the property, choosing to place it on the Brooklyn waterfront. In total, the restoration and construction of the pavilion cost her $ 15 million.

Nouvelle, to whom Valentas turned for help, did not want to build a "usual house with a door and windows" for the old attraction, but the transparent round greenhouse also seemed to him a boring option. Therefore, he placed the carousel in a square pavilion made of plexiglass (this option is not only cheap, but also creates visual distortions - an effect loved by the architect). Its two opposite facades move apart according to the accordion principle, so that in good weather the carousel can work in the fresh air (but in general this is a year-round project).

On a black rubber base, mirrors are installed around the perimeter of the ceilings, reflecting horses spinning in a circle and numerous bulbs. Every day after sunset, the carousel will turn into a light show: enlarged images of its horses will be projected onto the walls of the pavilion.
