This is the Ratinanniemi Peninsula, located at the confluence of the Tammerkoski River and Lake Pyhäjärvi. There is a large stadium Ratina: the territory around it was proposed to "master" the participants of the competition.
BIG architects have divided the 6.5 hectare area into three zones. It is proposed to build up the strip along the coast of the peninsula facing the city center with buildings of different heights on piles, which will create a spectacular silhouette. On the first floors of the buildings, offices, shops, cultural institutions, etc. will be arranged, apartments will be located higher, and gardens will be laid out on the roofs.
The second zone, at the tip of the peninsula, will be occupied by a residential building with a curvilinear closed plan typical for BIG with a smoothly varying height. At two points, it will descend to the "zero point", where it will be possible to begin a walk on its green roof, which is operated along its entire length.
The third part of the master plan is a building with offices, retail and cultural institutions, which plays the role of an extension to the stands of the stadium. Its facade with horizontal "louvers" will serve as the outer stands of the arena.
All parts of the general plan are connected by the "red line" of public spaces. It begins on the boardwalk near the houses on stilts, continues on the roof of a large residential building and ends like a jogging track along the stadium.
