The abbreviation in the name of the building stands for "House of Creative Economy and Culture in Aquitaine". The new building with an area of 12 thousand m2 will accommodate three regional government agencies (FRAC, ECLA and OARA) dedicated to supporting contemporary art, literature, cinema, music, theater, etc.
The architects set themselves the goal of attracting to the new center those publics that had not previously been interested in cultural life, otherwise its construction will benefit only those citizens who have previously attended exhibitions and concerts a lot. For this room, the building, the volume of which resembles a frame, was organized around the "loop" of the "promenade".
It integrates common areas at the bottom of the building (lobby, cafes, bars) and on the sides and above the auditorium and exhibition halls, studios, archives, research laboratories and much more.
The open space in the center of the building invites Bordeaux to the MÉCA and opens the cultural center to the outside. From there and from the rooftop observation deck, views of the city can be enjoyed. It can also be used for outdoor performances, various media installations, and more.
