And the smart home will do everything to protect the owners from fire, flooding and other emergencies. It will provide owners with maximum comfort, resource saving and, of course, easy control of all the entertainment in the house.
A smart home is an automation system that unites the engineering systems of a house into a single network. In the 21st century, not everyone is able to do without a set of household devices: TV, DVD player, Wi-Fi router, computer, microwave oven, subwoofer, air conditioner and much more. And almost every device comes with a remote control and complex operating instructions that should always be kept in mind. The smart home system will unite all the electronic components of modern housing, which include not only vacuum cleaners, washing machines, refrigerators and televisions, but also more complex units such as boilers, pumps, air conditioners, supply and exhaust ventilation systems, underfloor heating, ovens. A smart home will allow you to communicate with technology on the "you", when sometimes just one hand clap or a word is enough to, for example, turn on the light, open the curtains or activate the air conditioner.
For the first time, "smart" technologies began to be used in industrial enterprises, the term itself was defined at the Institute of Intelligent Building in the US capital Washington, in the 70s of the last century, as a building that ensures productive and efficient use of workspace. Today this concept is more and more applicable to private housing.
Savings and safety
The main functional responsibilities of a smart home are not entertainment at all, as is commonly thought, but cost optimization and safety. From this point of view, a smart home is an ideal solution for country cottages and apartments with large areas.
“The more engineering systems are planned in the house, the more justified is the automation system,” emphasizes Aleksey Ivanov, commercial director of ART Studio Design & Constuction.
Having fixed the absence of movement after you left the house, the system will transfer the warm floor and climate systems to the economic mode, turn off the iron, grill forgotten by the owner, heat and light in the rooms. Basic control of a smart home is done using a remote control. “Recently, the use of Apple devices is relevant. By clicking the desired icon on the iPad, you can control all the systems in the house,”says Alexey Ivanov.
The opening of the curtains and the turning on of the lights are often programmed depending on the street lighting, the activation of other devices can be set in time. A smart home can be controlled remotely, for example, from a phone or via the Internet, even if you are not in your hometown, but anywhere in the world. So, with the help of SMS, you can turn on underfloor heating, ventilation system and air conditioning. Going to a country house, remotely fill the pool with water and turn on the sauna. The system can be taught to unlock the lock as soon as a person approaches the door, whose photograph is entered into the base of your computer. In your absence, electronic guards will vigilantly and tirelessly guard your home. Motion sensors and video cameras will record the intrusion of burglars into the house, and a signal will notify the security point. In the event of a fire, the supply ventilation and electricity will be turned off, the alarm will notify the fire brigade and activate the fire extinguishing system.
Convenience and comfort
Many of us dream of how wonderful it would be if, as soon as we stepped on the threshold, the light would turn on itself! With a smart home, this feature becomes familiar. In general, light effects are one of the most popular smart home options. So, at night, the corridor, reacting to your steps, is helpfully illuminated with soft light, and when you approach the kitchen table, it illuminates the space with a local lamp. However, several lighting scenarios programmed on one remote control is not yet a smart home, but just an element of it, as experts believe.
An integral option of a smart home is an air conditioning system and climate control. A smart home is able to maintain individual parameters in each room - temperature, humidity, fresh air flow. “Today, systems of weather stations are popular that respond to changes in the weather outside the window. So, if the sun is bright, the system itself will close the curtains, turn on the air conditioners and push the cornices at the right angle,”says Aleksey Ivanov. Depending on the outside temperature, heating radiators, underfloor heating, electric converters, fan heaters, air conditioners in heating mode will work. You can change the temperature in any room as you wish, from anywhere in the house, as well as outside it. In the morning, a few minutes before you wake up, the air conditioner will automatically turn on, setting a comfortable air temperature, and the kettle will boil the water without your intervention.
Smart home systems work in tandem. So they exclude possible conflicts, for example, between air conditioners and heated floors. “It happens that an existing house project provides for the use of a huge number of electrical consumers, for which there is not enough voltage to operate. In this case, the question is about the correct distribution of electrical currents. For example, if the air conditioner is turned on, the windows are automatically closed and the heated floor is turned off,”says Ruslan Shanturov, Project Manager of the Media tech group of companies. In any scenario, you can make your own adjustments at any time.
Using your cell phone, while on the road, you can start filling the bathroom and warm up the sauna. The intercom, also installed in the bathroom, will help the visitor answer, and also, if necessary, open the door for him. Multimedia control - home theater, TV and sound systems allow you to quickly tune in to the desired radio wave or play your favorite music in any room.
“Automation at the electronics level ceases to be boring; it is presented as a game that is convenient not only in terms of functionality, but also brings pleasure and aesthetic pleasure,” emphasizes Aleksey Ivanov, Commercial Director of ART Studio Design & Constuction.
With the help of a smart home system, you can remotely water indoor plants or a lawn on the site. The smart home activates the light on a schedule in the aquarium and feeds pets at the right time.
“Virtual ceilings look very impressive in the bedrooms. These are LCD screens built into the ceiling that show the corresponding picture depending on the time of day. At night, the starry sky will hang over you, during the day - swaying crowns of trees directed to the sky, as if you are in a forest,”says Ruslan Shanturov.
Problems and solutions
Smart home control is carried out using a single interactive touch panel. It can be a regular remote control or an option built into the iPad. The superstructure is implemented using an information network to which all units are connected, including sensors, actuators and a processor that acts as a brain center.
The programs themselves for the smart home, which determine the algorithms of engineering systems, are compiled in accordance with the wishes of the owners of the house. Many are scared that the house in such a case can "go crazy", and a complete technical chaos will begin.
“Undoubtedly, the fewer devices work in conjunction, the smoother their work,” says Ruslan Shanturov. “However, if the main processor still fails, then all systems will continue to work, but they will have to be controlled individually. We combine a centralized approach, when everything is controlled by a single processor, with a decentralized approach, when, when the main "brain" fails, the systems continue to work as usual."
Processor freeze is unlikely. Even if this happens, the computer, paradoxical as it may sound, goes into reboot mode by itself. A smart home, like any complex device, needs maintenance, which is recommended to be done once a quarter. Small problems can be solved remotely.
The price of the issue
A few decades ago, "smart home" was only the forecasts of futurologists, today - this concept has become common use. Most often, a smart home system is adapted to existing equipment. “Even an ordinary remote control today can be easily endowed with broad capabilities and made it“smart”,” says Aleksey Kuznetsov, CEO of Smart. - With its help, within one room, you can control all types of audio-video equipment, lighting, window blinds, climate control system. It also allows you to program, taking into account the time of day, the routine of all these devices."
“If we count only the automation system, which is being implemented on existing equipment, then its cost starts from 7 thousand rubles per 1 sq. M. meter , - says Ruslan Shanturov.
Nevertheless, according to Aleksey Ivanov, the right decision would be to design automation systems at the stage of building a house. This is the only way to achieve optimal distribution of all devices in their relationship. At the same time, the designer, in his interior design, takes into account that all these cables, air ducts, switchboards are not visible.
“Already, there are devices, for example, Phillips light bulbs, which already have smart home elements,” says Aleksey Ivanov, Commercial Director of ART Studio Design & Constuction. “The introduction of smart home technologies in TVs, in plumbing fixtures is noticeable, when the water temperature and pressure in the system are automatically maintained”. Installation of smart home systems is always an individual process.
So, according to Alexei, only the development of a smart home project for an apartment with an area of 250 sq. meters will cost 50-70 thousand rubles and this is 7-10% of its implementation, and the installation itself for 1 million rubles. With all this, the smart home system is gradually descending from the elite sector to the middle one. “We have had examples when the smart home system was built only in the living room, combined with the kitchen. Local application on 60 sq. meters cost the owners 150-200 thousand rubles, thus the customers optimized costs, "says Alexei Ivanov, commercial director of ART Studio Design & Constuction. If we talk only about light control, then such a kit will cost you 40-50 thousand rubles, a home security system - from 7 to 20 thousand rubles. The cost of automation depends not only on the number of functions, but also on the equipment manufacturer. So, one of the most reliable, but at the same time expensive, is the German brand Crestron.
A smart home simplifies our life, optimizes costs, and creates a comfortable environment. And, of course, an automated system will cope much better than a whole staff of service personnel. After all, she will never take sick leave, she is always in a good mood, she does not need a vacation or day off, but most importantly, she does not forget about her duties.
