This time, Ardi Schönau, Key Account Manager at Q-railing, spoke about his products and the opportunities that open up to architects with their use. This company is engaged in the production and supply of various systems of handrail and fence fasteners. High-tech structures for interiors and streets are made of stainless steel and aluminum, and the handrails are also made of wood. In addition to the high safety factor of structures, their reliability and durability is also ensured by the fact that the glass panels do not have holes and are not drilled during installation.

Ardi Schönau spoke about the range of Q-railin products, demonstrated examples of its use at large facilities: at Vnukovo Airport, a concert hall for the Eurovision Song Contest in Baku, a stadium in Wroclaw, where the 2012 European Football Championship was held. In his opinion, modern trends in the design of fences require continuous glazing without unnecessary frames, and handrails are relevant with a rectangular or square section instead of a round one.

Nikolay Sotnikov, Development Director of the company Structure, shared his experience of cooperation with the manufacturer of fences. One of the successful examples of the use of glass fences was a 26-storey residential complex with views of the apartment on Kurortny Prospekt in Sochi. It was necessary to install balcony railing on wavy floors, for which the company made straight and curved (bent) laminated panels of 16 mm thick, and the bearing profile and handrail were bent at the plant in St. Petersburg in accordance with the radii of the ceiling curves.

The jewelery accuracy of joining the straight and radius parts of the bearing profile required equalizing the errors in the marks of the concrete slab using a rapidly solidifying chemical solution for anchors. The result is a one-piece glass enclosure without visible fasteners, giving a full view from the balcony and meeting all the strength requirements.

The strength of glass barriers is another important factor that designers have to take into account. So, before the start of the project, the enclosing structures were tested for resistance to wind force up to 370 kg / sq.m (peak load according to the blowing of the model of the building in a wind tunnel). Moreover, at the NIISF test bench, a sample of the fence withstood an exceeding pressure of up to 440 kg / m2, which the structure withstood without destruction. In addition to transparent triplex, you can use color, patterned panels or stemalit.

The KdAI club was founded in 2005 and initially only consisted of architects and engineers. Gradually, the number of participants expanded, and today its members include manufacturers and suppliers of building materials, builders, lawyers, developers and consulting companies. At the meetings of the club, new technologies, trends in construction, urban planning and architecture, topical environmental issues are discussed.
