Located practically in the center of the city, the new gymnasium is designed for 800 students. In addition to general education subjects, they teach the basics of acting and music, drawing and graphic design, as well as the theory and practice of modern media and communications. The building with a total area of 22,500 m2 houses numerous classrooms and auditoriums, a recording studio, an assembly hall with 380 seats and a sports center.
The central public space of the new school is the atrium, which the architects have shaped into an expanding cocoon. Its smoothly curved walls are clad in larch wood, which gives this part of the building an additional charm and makes it very noticeable against the backdrop of the travertine-clad facades. Thus, LINK Arkitektur visually shattered the long western facade of the gymnasium - overlooking a narrow street, thanks to which it perfectly matches its development scale.
The southern and eastern facades of the building are facing the river, and their architects decide in a completely different way. It is dominated by extended planes, large-scale glazing, expressive consoles. The upper, fourth floor of the gymnasium is a "slab" faced with multi-colored glass, which links parts of the building into a single composition.
