On September 30, 2013, the official opening of the Crimean embankment took place, which was turned into a pedestrian zone according to the project of the Wowhaus architectural bureau. Everything is unusual and attractive here: from shops to fountains, from landscape design to new pavilions.
Three pavilions have been built, in which cozy cafes and restaurants will appear. The architecture of each of them uses a combination of modern materials and textures in different ways.
The pavilions are distinguished by their unusual geometry. One - the one closer to Yakimanka - looks like a skateboarding ramp, you can enter it on roller skates, a bicycle or a skateboard and look at the river or park from there. In winter, the roof of the pavilion will turn into an ice slide.
The next, small, intricately shaped pavilion (below) is very cozy and looks light. For this pavilion, the architects chose the Cord glass profile texture, transparent, with a corrugated surface. Daylight can completely fill the interior space, while from the outside, the silhouettes of people inside are barely visible.
Glass profile stained glass windows in all pavilions are safe, they are made of tempered glass. Hardened fiberglass is 5 times stronger than usual, and on impact it crumbles into small fragments, which makes it acceptable for public spaces.
The third pavilion is larger than the previous ones and looks completely different (below). The matte glass profile of the Solar low iron texture sparkles slightly in the rays of the autumn sun and allows it to penetrate inside with diffused soft light.
In the evening, the glass-profile stained glass windows are additionally illuminated, and the pavilion seems to float.
All pavilions have double glazing and a warm profile system. For the first time in Russia, a project has been implemented in which a radius facade made of glass profiles is made with a warm bent aluminum profile. To create the radius elements of the facade, a rather complicated operation of bending the profile was implemented, which made it possible to maintain the continuity of the warm contour and protect the premises from the winter cold. Thermal performance of such a facade is comparable to double glazing.
Fiberglass allows you to fulfill any idea of an architect and designer, to create unique translucent structures. Glass profile is unique because, using elementary layout techniques in installation or painting, or matte glass processing, connecting glass profile with other architectural materials, you always have the opportunity to get something that was not there before. This fact is proven by the many buildings built around the world with glass-profiled facades (often awarded with international awards).
The pavilions on the Krymskaya embankment are not the first experience of using this modern material in Russia, but in this case, glass profiled was first used in such a popular public place. The pavilions almost immediately earned recognition from all visitors to the park.
