Until recently, the complex of the film archive and the film institute was located in a "temporary" structure, which was hardly adapted for this purpose, built after the fire of 1982. Now it has been renovated, significantly expanded and supplemented by public spaces available to everyone - regardless of the level of income.
This was especially important because before the restructuring, the townspeople passed every day on the way to the metro station through the territory of the cinema center located in the suburbs, and the architect kept this opportunity for them. Moreover, due to the replacement of the usual parking lot with a 6-storey one for 528 cars (a quarter more than it was previously placed there), 40% of the site was vacated. This allowed not only to expand the building itself, but also to create green and paved areas there, where local residents and employees of the nearby hospital and factories enjoy their free time.
Of course, movie lovers have also benefited greatly from the reconstruction: new halls for 180 people each have appeared in the cinema center, and the total capacity of the complex has increased to 2,495 seats. In addition, there is now an open-air amphitheater for 750 spectators. Two new vaults have also been added and the archive can now hold 50,000 reels of film.
All parts of the complex are connected together by a semi-open "foyer" with a ceiling of aluminum composite panels with triangular perforations, which also cover the facades of the new parts of the building.
