A new shopping center is being built on Dmitrovskoye Shosse, not far from the yacht clubs of the Klyazminskoye Reservoir: a classic store on the highway, which, probably, will also later be useful to residents of the microdistrict that has just been conceived in these places. Now, in addition to the highway, in its immediate surroundings - dachas, cottages, abandoned fields, a forest park and several warehouse hangars belonging to the customer of the shopping center: the idea to start construction arose in 2008, and even the project was ready, but then the work was curtailed for economic reasons. Last year, the topic came to life, and the customer turned to MGPM for a new project, which attracted Totan Kuzembaev's workshop to the project.
A spacious and long section, containing many ground parking spaces, will stretch along the highway next to a traffic intersection, which is also still planned to be built - along the Klyazma, towards the village of Semkino. The three-storey building of the shopping center inherited its simple and rational, strictly rectangular plan from the previous project; the detailed design at the level of planning is carried out by another workshop. Totan Kuzembaev's bureau got the most notable task: to dress the building in a "new suit", unlike the hangar-industrial environment.
The voluminous futuristic shell proposed by Totan Kuzembaev's workshop enveloped the volume of the shopping center from three visible sides, making it look like a fantastic aircraft that made an emergency landing in the fields near Moscow. The shiny wings, shimmering in the sun, are widely - and quite symmetrically - spread out to the sides, and the "head" looks at the highway through a stained glass window at the third floor level. The central entrance is located strictly in the center, just under the canopy of the "bow of the ship". Two more entrances are located one under each "wing". Their dynamic, strongly protruding volume creates a comfortable canopy - a promenade protected from rain almost along the entire building.
The shell seems incredibly voluminous not only due to its complex geometry, but also due to the chosen wall pattern. An abstract picture of various and differently arranged triangular aluminum cassettes among themselves enhances the effect of three-dimensionality - the walls come to life before our eyes, forming whimsical pictures that change depending on the lighting and the angle of view. At the same time, both broken bends and a simple drawing of the walls are somewhat reminiscent of a puzzle toy - Rubik's snake: it seems - pull one end, and you will assemble a new interesting figure. However, the strict color scheme of the building, created using eight shades of dark and light metallic, again returns to the image of an aircraft - polished to a shine, powerful and unapproachable.
The complex will look especially fantastic in the dark. Each "vein" connecting the set of triangular cassettes on the facade was decided to be brightly illuminated. As a result, at night the building, densely entwined with a luminous web, will completely change its appearance.
The shell of the building is fully justified functionally: its protrusions hide all communications, technical equipment and air conditioning units. The northern "wing", raised a little more, masks the cinema halls on the third floor. The "observation slot" of the panoramic stained-glass window above the entrance is also quite justified, behind it are the offices of the management company. Two more glass "screens", located symmetrically on either side of the office block, belong to the food court and small but expensive shops. All major retailers will take their place on the ground and underground levels.
Thus, the movable, slightly eccentric shell partly compensates for the rationality of the interior space with its minimal atrium and orthogonal cutting of the premises. However, the spectacular "mask" of facades, vividly reminiscent of science fiction films, also plays its marketing role - no less than a dry calculation of the area's output: the shine of the iridescent edges of the metal dragon will be impossible not to notice even at a cursory glance, passing by. It is completely unobvious that behind this skillful disguise, conscientious decoration hides a rather simple, pragmatic parallelepiped of the Moscow Region shopping center.
