We continue to publish photographs of Denis Esakov. Among the published materials - a selection of buildings by Konstantin Melnikov for the 125th anniversary of the great architect, avant-garde monuments in Yekaterinburg, historical buildings of the Kristall plant in Moscow, Alvar Aalto's library in Vyborg, aerial photography of Moscow modernism monuments.

An experimental residential building on Begovaya Street (1978, architect Andrei Meerson) is known to the townspeople as the “house of aviators”, “house on legs”, “centipede house” (according to the number of supports that support it); sometimes he is even considered for the work of Le Corbusier - on whose post-war work the project is deliberately focused.

Elena Gonzalez, President of MARSH Lab, architecture critic, curator:

“The house on Begovaya is one of the most interesting Moscow buildings, and now we can speak with confidence about this without limiting its significance to the period of modernism. Of course, he is a vivid embodiment of brutalism of the 70s, but in the gallery of Moscow monuments, the house on Begovaya is no less significant than the masterpieces of previous centuries. A simple thing makes it so - the quality of the architecture. Time only adds value to architecture.

Power and brutality are combined here with grace and detail of building elements and details. It is important to understand that the design of the facade, its rhythm and depth are created not by the decor, not by overhead details that carry the "decorating" mission, but by the structure itself - panels, balcony consoles, functional fencing. This is the case when aesthetic experiences arise from both the artistic and intellectual consistency of the author's creation."
