In February of this year in Yekaterinburg, an offsite meeting of the coordination expert council for the development of a Roadmap for the creation of economic incentives for the introduction of energy efficient technologies and materials in the construction industry was held. In the field of low-rise residential construction, VELUX, Magnum Haus, the Passive House Institute and the Ecodolie Group of Companies presented a pilot project of the first energy-efficient economy class house "House A +".

The project provides for the construction of a residential building for one family based on the principles of energy efficiency and the achievement of an optimal balance between reducing energy consumption, a healthy microclimate and respect for nature. At the same time, the tasks of the project include making such housing expedient and affordable for the general population. Thus, the "A +" project will become the first energy efficient economy class house.

At the moment, the design of the architectural section and the section of structural solutions of the house has been fully completed, and by the fall of 2014 it will be built in the Ekodolie Yekaterinburg residential complex. Along with the organizers, the TechnoNICOL Corporation is the general sponsor of the project.

The foundation of the House A + will be made according to the type of "insulated Swedish plate" (USHP). Such a foundation combines the device of an insulated monolithic foundation slab and a communications network, including a floor heating system. An integrated approach allows you to obtain in a short time an insulated base with built-in engineering systems and a flat floor, ready for laying the coating.

Unique solutions have been found for translucent structures, which guarantee a high level of natural illumination. This was achieved thanks to the strategically located VELUX roof windows and façade windows.

The project uses wooden skylights with energy-saving double-glazed windows, which retain heat in winter and protect against overheating in summer. In one of the children's bedrooms, it was decided to use a combination of a VELUX roof window and a vertical cornice window to provide a panoramic view.

Facade window solutions are provided by Deceuninck - this is the Favorite Space profile with 6 air chambers. This profile will keep warmth in the room, and 3 sealing circuits will provide protection against drafts. The energy efficiency indicators of such a solution are 30-40% higher than that of conventional window structures.

The favorable location of the House A + relative to the cardinal points will allow achieving maximum insolation of the premises. Thus, House A +, despite the large glazing area, will be as energy efficient as possible.

The roof will be made using SHINGLAS laminated tiles. The energy efficient tile color chosen for the A + house has a high sunlight reflectance. Thanks to this property, the roof will heat up less.

Heat loss in the house is significantly reduced due to high-quality and most effective thermal insulation. Mineral wool insulation Technolight and Technoblok from TechnoNICOL and Tyvek waterproofing membranes from DuPont were used in the project of the enclosing structures.

Particular attention was paid to the tightness of the inner shell of the house, which is important for the balance of energy in the room. Unique interfaces have been developed, which make it possible to make one hundred percent tightness. By combining Tyvek vapor permeable membranes with AirGuard air and vapor retention layers, a durable and complete building protection system has been created. As a result, it was possible to 100% avoid cold bridges in the house.

The start of construction of House A + is scheduled for mid-June 2014.
