Andrey Nekrasov, architect, professor of Moscow Architectural Institute:

“In general, I am satisfied with the result of the work done. Almost all projects turned out to be thoughtful, serious and at the same time very creative. I would especially like to note a series of Crimean projects. Five students at once chose the Crimean coast as the design site. Three proposed interesting concepts for Sevastopol. The works turned out to be somewhat similar, but each is valuable in itself. It is interesting that they trace the idea of the formation of a certain future, as yet non-existent Sevastopol, in which today the processes of the formation of local centers, remote from the historical center, are just beginning to take place. The students suggested that the city would subsequently grow, and developed their own vision of such new centers of activity. They tried to infiltrate the existing green landscape and low-rise sparse surroundings of the Sevastopol suburbs. It seems to me that such an approach, which, of course, cannot be called environmental, also has a place to be.

The project "Marina in Koktebel" seemed quite interesting to us. It seems to me that one of the fundamental approaches to design in Crimea has been found here. In Soviet times, massive trade union and sanatorium complexes were built on the coast in large numbers, which had nothing to do with the landscape. As a result, the peninsula is heavily overloaded with "heavy" volumes. But if we follow the path of natural, light and transparent solutions hidden inside the landscape, this could become one of the most correct directions of work in Crimea. It seems to me that this is the main meaning and value of the project.

Another project is considering the coastal area of Feodosia. This project, probably, turned out to be not so bright. But it contains the exact moves and techniques for working with the environment. Feodosia includes a huge number of historical layers - Rome, Ancient Greece, Italy, Turkey. Each of them is of interest. Moreover, they are all very little manifested. The author tried to use all this and create a unique environment.

As for other topics, I cannot fail to note the project of Smirnov, who came up with a multifunctional public center for express meetings and negotiations at the highest level. Such a complex could probably be useful in solving complex and urgent economic and political issues. The author came up with a new object in terms of its functional purpose, which, at least in Russia, is definitely not there. And it also offered a compelling architectural image.

The most passionate work is the Turkish port of Djema Rende. We all agreed that he succeeded in artistic and emotional portrayal of an object that could become the face of Istanbul. The beautiful and non-standard work is distinguished by a bright national flavor and attention to the traditions of Turkey."

Alexandra Bashenkova and Maria Makhonina in their works considered a common site in Sevastopol. They also developed the urban planning part together. The town-planning proposal of Grigory Barkhin of 1944 and the concept of the city development developed by JSB "Ostozhenka" were taken as a basis. In it, in particular, it is proposed to connect the disparate areas of the city by creating a new transport system in the form of rockades and viaducts leading from Inkerman to the South Bay.

Alexandra Bashenkova proposed to locate a new peripheral center on the Kulikovo field. And Makhonin is a similar city center - on Krasnaya Gorka. Multifunctional centers, including housing, hotels, office premises, are designed for the future development of the city. Sofia Rastorgueva took a slightly different path, designing a training and research cluster near the historic center of Sevastopol. The scientific buildings of a very energetic appearance with numerous trusses and consoles are clearly built around a wide courtyard, crossed by numerous bridges and passages.

The hotel and the marine marina are located in the south-west of the Koktebel Bay. Considering the uniqueness of the place, the projected building is made in bionic forms. According to the author, the structures imitate a curving snake, which helps to delicately integrate into the steep relief of the coast. It is assumed that the hotel will be a seasonal building, assembled from lightweight structures. In addition to hotel rooms, there are cafes and restaurants in the building. In addition, the complex includes a building of the Soviet period located on the site. It is proposed to reconstruct and turn into a hotel with inexpensive rooms for young people and students.

It is planned that guests will sail to the hotel territory on boats and yachts. For this purpose, a marina has been designed with a capacity of 70 ships.

The project offers a comprehensive solution to the main problems of the city - transport and infrastructure. The coastal territory of the city, selected as a design site, is closed to residents of Feodosia and tourists. The barracks of the military unit and the industrial zone are located there. It is proposed to vacate the site and arrange a tourist complex of buildings, whose appearance refers to the historical buildings. The layout of the complex follows the correct outlines of the first Roman fortress located on this territory. Small hotels, apartments, cafes and museum and exhibition spaces are located in cozy quarters. Following the principle of continuity, the author marks the line of the moat and restores the fortress itself in the form of an installation. Also, free access to the embankment is provided, which receives a high-quality improvement.

Operational Contact Center in Sheremetyevo

The author of the project proposed creating an operational visa-free center where delegates from different countries can come to solve urgent political and economic issues without entering the country. The complex in the form of a closed block of buildings with perimeter buildings is proposed to be located near the Sheremetyevo airport. The external facades are designed in an extremely restrained manner - there is no plastic or decor. An absolutely flat silhouette, a dark gray shade of solid glazing - all this is designed to hide the real function of the complex as much as possible. The main efforts are focused on solving the interior space. The contrast of external and internal is pushed to the limit. Inside, in addition to intricately and at the same time modernly decorated buildings, serious improvement is provided, including the embankment of the Klyazma River, the channel of which goes directly into the courtyard.
